NFL Stock Watch: Which Rookie WR Has the Brightest Long-Term Future?
The 2011 NFL draft class has been one of the most successful rookie classes in recent memory.
In particular, a talented group of rookie wide receivers has emerged this season, taking the league by storm.
One has to wonder, however, whether these big-time rookies will continue to find success in the future, or if their first-year fireworks have been nothing more than beginner's luck.
Here's a look at five of the league's most talented young wideouts and their long-term prognoses in the NFL.
5. Denarius Moore, Oakland Raiders
1 of 5Oakland's Denarius Moore has come out of nowhere to become one of the AFC West's most dynamic young playmakers.
While his numbers have been hindered by quarterback changes and by the sheer depth of the Raiders' receiving corps, he has still managed to rack up four touchdowns and nearly 400 yards through just 10 regular season games.
Moore's streaky play is a bit of a concern, but consistency will come with time as he becomes more and more comfortable with newly-acquired quarterback Carson Palmer.
Look for Moore to become a true No. 1 threat in Oakland and become a cornerstone of the Raiders' offense for years to come.
4. Greg Little, Cleveland Browns
2 of 5Cleveland's Greg Little has yet to develop into the top-tier threat many projected him to be when the Browns took him 59th overall, but he has still looked promising to say the least.
Through 10 weeks of play, Little has recorded 42 receptions for 438 yards, and he is quickly emerging as Colt McCoy's favorite downfield target.
Cleveland employs a run-heavy offense, but Little has gotten the most out of his opportunities and he'll have more chances to shine down the road.
He certainly has No. 1 wideout potential.
3. Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens
3 of 5Torrey Smith is the epitome of a speed receiver and he looks to be exactly what the doctor ordered in Baltimore.
Since bursting onto the scene in Week 3 with a huge three-touchdown performance, Smith has been one of Joe Flacco's go-to guys in the passing game and has racked up nearly 600 yards receiving.
He's as fast as anyone in today's game, and his sheer speed should allow him to be a dangerous NFL wideout for years to come.
2. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
4 of 5Simply put, Julio Jones is a beast.
Despite appearing in just seven games so far this season, the rookie out of Alabama has managed to record 30 receptions for 498 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons.
With Roddy White alongside him, defenses have struggled to stifle the Atlanta air attack all season long, and that could be the case for several more seasons as White still looks to have something left in the tank despite his veteran status.
Atlanta gave up the farm for a chance to take Jones sixth overall in the 2011 draft and their investment appears to be paying off quite nicely.
Jones is going to be a star.
1. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
5 of 5A.J. Green isn't just one of the NFL's best rookie wide receivers, he may be one of the NFL's best overall playmakers.
Despite missing the Bengals' Week 11 clash with Baltimore due to injury, Green has still recorded 41 receptions for 635 yards and six touchdowns this season.
Even more impressively, all six of his scores have come in different games, speaking volumes about his consistency as a pass catcher.
It's still awfully early, but Green has the potential to become an NFL great.
