WWE Survivor Series 2011: Why Team Barrett Was Dominant
Last night's show definitely had some exciting moments to make it yet another great show. One aspect that made this show so great was the victory of Team Barrett.
If you look down the battle lines at both teams, it was a stacked match up.
On Team Barrett you had:
Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Hunico.
On Team Orton you had:
Randy Orton, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Sin Cara and Mason Ryan
This match essentially did a few things.
First, the elimination order was perfect.
To kick off the match, Dolph Ziggler was the first to be eliminated. This was a great move because it protected him and it made sense because he just had a title defense several minutes before.
Following the eliminations of Sin Cara, Mason Ryan and Kofi Kingston, the heel gained a massive advantage. Sheamus was disqualified next because he failed to listen to the referee. Before he left, however, he delivered a huge brogue kick to Jack Swagger letting Orton get an easy pin.
In the last moments of the match, Orton was attacked by all three men. After managing to fend all three heels off, Orton hit a huge RKO on Hunico and got the three count. Rhodes and Barrett worked together and finally took down Orton after Barrett hit the Wasteland.
This finish let the sole survivors be Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes. This finish was perfect because it gave the heels huge momentum while protecting the faces.
This leaves the question, "What will happen next?"
I think Orton will continue his feud with Rhodes, Barrett will move up the chain and start a feud with Sheamus and Ziggler will continue his reign as U.S. Champion.
