WWE Survivor Series 2011 Results: Was Tonight Morrison's Last Match?

After tonight, you may not see John Morrison in the WWE anymore. The pieces were set, but Morrison's bid for the United States championship has failed.

That said, he had a good match with Dolph Ziggler. He went tit for tat with the 31-year-old, only to eat a Zig Zag at the end of the fight. Morrison's send off from the fans was non-existent. However, in the bout itself, their was a strong showing for the departing Shaman of Sexy.

Morrison is not advertised for any WWE events past November 28th's Raw. Rumors have placed the end of his WWE contract as early December. TNA seems a likely destination for the Parkour Prince, but Ring Of Honor may be just as good a spot as any.

After the match, Ziggler moved on to a promo. He cut down on the NY crowd and Zack Ryder in particular. Ryder emerged immediately after the promo and got the better of Ziggler when he nailed the Rough Ryder.

Meanwhile, Morrison was not even an afterthought.

It seems an odd ending to one the most unique talents in the WWE, but it shouldn't be surprising. Needless to say, I was a little surprised that Morrison even got the match in the first place over Ryder. I surmised it was partly to entice the Los Angeles native to ink a new deal.

One can assume that, as a result of the clean loss to Ziggler, the WWE is apparently moving on to Ryder as the new focus for Dolph. Therefore, any potential mileage that could have been had from a Ziggler/Morrison feud has already run its course as has the WWE's hopes to re-sign him.

Things change from day to day in the WWE. Angles and feuds change in the blink of an eye and the loyalty of the fans is ever a fickle thing. However, in a night which featured the epic return of The Great One and a surprisingly strong match for the WWE title, Morrison's last gambit has seemingly turned into a checkmate situation.
