WWE Survivor Series 2011 Results: What We Learned from the Rock & Cena's Win

Tonight at Survivor Series, The Rock and John Cena were able to put their differences aside long enough to beat Awesome Truth and hype their fight at WrestleMania.

Fans learned one thing from The Rock and John Cena's win tonight.  They learned that the WWE isn't willing to do anything that might jeopardize this matchup, especially letting the two men in it lose a match.

The Rock looked impressive and Cena was able to take a beating and come back from it.  It doesn't mean that the match was terrible, just that its characters played out the way they usually do.

The WWE could have created a little controversy by having Cena and Rocky get in each other's way.  As the match went on they could have started doing little things that distracted their partner and allowed Awesome Truth to gain momentum and eventually win.

It wouldn't have hurt their image as top draws and it would have helped Awesome Truth get over.  It could have even helped build the WrestleMania match.

It doesn't mean that a finish like that would have been any less predictable, but it might have helped get Miz and R-Truth a little more over as heels with the crowd.  After all, it wasn't like Cena or The Rock needed the win.

As for the finish and post-fight celebrations?  It showed fans even more of what they saw in the match...A vulnerable Cena and a dominant Rock.

Again, this isn't awful.  Many fans, especially those on the Internet, have been vocal about the supposed invulnerability of John Cena.  It may have been a welcome sight to see him taken out after being beaten on.

It all boils down to the fact that the WWE wasn't willing to risk the image of two men and the importance of the match they will be in at WrestleMania for anything.

And that is what fans can take away from the main event of Survivor Series.

That if John Cena and The Rock appear in a match, unless it is against each other, they will win clean. They have to.

Otherwise it could hurt the WrestleMania buy rate. 

And the WWE isn't willing to bet on that.
