WWE Survivor Series Results: CM Punk's Submission Leads to Logical Conclusion

Andrew KulhaNov 21, 2011

As a WWE fighter, when getting in the ring with CM Punk you have to be aware of his incredible submission skills—but apparently, Alberto Del Rio neither cared nor payed attention, and he lost his WWE championship belt because of it.

CM Punk did what he had to do and came away as the new WWE champion—to be honest, there isn't a more deserving champion.

Del Rio didn't deserve that belt, and that was rather obvious in this Survivor Series belt.

Even the least experienced fighter or participant of the WWE knows to stay away from Punk's submission moves.

Del Rio had him against the ropes for a minute or two, but in the end it was Punk's technical skills that gave him the advantage and won him the belt.

Jim Adler of wrestleheat.com chronicles the last few moments of the title fight, which ended in a Del Rio tapout:

"

Punk makes it to the ropes with his feet and breaks the hold. Del Rio charges but Punk goes for GTS. Del Rio slides out and shoves Punk into Ricardo on the apron. Punk blocks again and rolls Del Rio up for a close 2 count. Punk kicks Del Rio in the head and lays him out but he still kicks out at 2. Punk locks the Anaconda Vice as the crowd goes nuts. Del Rio claws at Punk’s eye but he won’t break the hold. Del Rio taps out to end the match.

"

In the end, it was the technical precision of Punk that got him the title, and I'm not sure many people are surprised at that.

There's no doubt that he's becoming one of the best fighters in the WWE circuit, and moves like the Anaconda Vice got him to this point.

Many people feel that the big throws, punches and lights-out techniques are the way to a championship, but CM Punk has proven that hard work, attention to details and incredible technique are the way to go.

In the end, it's not about how awesome you look throwing a punch, it's about who's on their back listening to the count, and who's not.

CM Punk has come out victorious again, and he is now the new WWE champion.
