4 NFL Teams Most Likely To Be One and Done If They Make Postseason Field
As we progress farther and farther into the 2011 NFL season, our thoughts inevitably turn to which teams are in the best position to advance to the playoffs, as well as what teams are most capable of doing some damage if they do.
However, while there are teams that are more than capable of posting a solid enough regular-season record to get them into the playoffs, it's unlikely that their stay in the second season will be a long one. So let's take a look at a quartet of teams we'll call the "one-and doners."
1. Houston Texans
1 of 4The Houston Texans are in first place in the AFC South, have a much improved defense and the best one-two punch in the NFL at running back with Arian Foster and Ben Tate.
But with starting quarterback Matt Schaub out for the season, the Texans now have Matt Leinart under center.
See Ya.
2. New England Patriots
2 of 4The New England Patriots are in the driver's seat in the AFC East and possess a potent offense, but a defense that would have trouble slowing down the Tom Landry Junior High football team is going to be their undoing in the playoffs.
Aloha.
3. Detroit Lions
3 of 4The Detroit Lions are laughingstocks no more and play with a great deal of fire and passion, but that fire has also led to breakdowns in discipline and stupid penalties. Those sorts of things are the proverbial kiss of death in the playoffs, as is regularly spotting your opponent a big lead.
Buh-Bye.
4. Green Bay Packers
4 of 4Yep, I said it.
There's no denying that the Green Bay Packers are an offensive juggernaut, but their defense can be erratic and their run game is suspect, so even a team as dominant-looking as the Packers could see their season end shockingly early if the weather or matchup conspires against them.
Ask the 2010 Falcons what being the No. 1 seed gets you.
