UFC 139 Results: 3 Fights Wanderlei Silva Needs to Take Before Retiring

Wanderlei Silva has done it all, but even so, there are still some fights we'd like to see him in before he's gone.

How can a man with over 40 MMA fights (and probably dozens of other unsanctioned fights) still have unfinished business in the cage?

Well, there are still some unresolved rivalries for Silva, as well as some other matchups.

So who do we want him to fight before he retires? Read and find out!

Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping was supposed to beat Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110, but the result likely gave UFC brass fits.

Bisping lost via unanimous decision, and the UFC's British star's stock declined a bit.

The UFC would love to give Bisping a chance at redemption, and fans would love to see a stand-up clinic between the two fighters.

Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva have a very real beef outside the cage.

Sonnen not only insulted Silva on numerous occasions, but insulted Silva's home country of Brazil as well. Even worse, Silva actually called Sonnen out in person, and Sonnen backed down, only to continue his verbal assault when Silva wasn't in his face.

Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva would have all the makings of a classic grudge match, and it would be a great fight to watch.

Yushin Okami

Putting Wanderlei Silva against Yushin Okami on the UFC's Japanese card in February could be great.

Silva is a legend in Japan and is also undefeated against Japanese fighters. Against Okami, he would get a chance to wow Japanese fans one more time, as well as keep his peculiar streak alive.

Why so Few?

If Wanderlei Silva was an immortal whose physical abilities never declined, the list of fights we'd like to see him in would be endless. But unfortunately, Silva is just a mortal man who is nearing the end of his career.

His speed is diminishing, as is his power, and his ability to take a punch is rapidly declining.

Sure, there are other fighters we'd like to see him go against, but those fights aren't exactly winnable for him.
