BCS Standings: Houston Will Get Screwed in New Week 12 Poll
Houston will get unfairly disrespected in the new Week 12 BCS standings in a travesty that will create yet another example of why college football badly needs a playoff system.
Everyone who belittles the Cougars' perfect 11-0 record claims that they have not played any quality opponents and their schedule is terribly weak.
Well, how is Houston supposed to play the best teams if they cannot make a BCS bowl game?
The fact that in college football you can go undefeated and not be crowned champion is absurd.
The Cougars have the nation's highest-scoring offense, and it is led by one of the best quarterbacks in the nation who is a future NFL player.
Houston quarterback Case Keenum is a spectacular quarterback and a candidate for the Heisman Trophy. I bet Keenum would love to take his passing offense, which is ranked No. 1 in the country, against the nation's top defenses, such as LSU or Alabama.
Keenum has thrown 38 touchdown passes and only three interceptions. He rarely makes mistakes. He is not a result of the Cougars' system, Keenum is the real deal.
Houston is not just a team that throws the ball across the yard against weak opponents who have no shot at stopping them. They also average 170.8 rushing yards per game. The Cougars are not just a pass-happy team, they have a good, balanced attack.
The Cougars' defense has played well this season and has only allow 21.4 points per game.
Houston is currently ranked No. 8 in the BCS poll and No. 11 in the most recent BCS poll. The new BCS standings will be released Sunday evening.
It is highly unlikely that Houston will climb into the Top 10, which is a huge mistake. They are a better team than Clemson, who got destroyed by a bad N.C. State team this week.
Boise State is also not better than Houston. You can argue that the Broncos' win against Georgia is kind of impressive, but Houston has a better offense than Boise State, and their defenses are quite similar.
To go undefeated is a great accomplishment no matter what conference you play in. Houston is a very good team, but they will not receive the respect they deserve.
Houston is going to get screwed in the latest BCS standings despite having the best passing attack and highest-scoring offense in America.
Not allowing the Cougars to put their perfect 11-0 record to the test against the best teams in the country is a severe injustice.
