WWE Survivor Series 2011 Predictions: Why the Rock Will Betray John Cena

We have been waiting around for months to watch John Cena and The Rock tangle at WrestleMania 28, but the WWE universe gets an early Christmas present with the two in a tag team match against Miz and R-Truth at Survivor Series 2011.

The only reason why The Rock made his comeback before WrestleMania 28 was to buildup the No. 1 pay-per-view event even more. That’s why The Rock will turn on Cena by giving him the Rock Bottom towards the end of the match.

We have seen the “People’s Champ” make appearances via satellite several times, but that book got old real quick. People wanted to see him in action more than once a year. That’s why WrestleMania won’t be the only event he does in the upcoming months.

The idea for The Rock to turn on Cena is simple: The WWE is trying to get as many fans on the side of Cena as possible, even though that will be a hard feat to accomplish given the love-hate relationships from the WWE universe. 

Percentages favor The Rock in terms of fans wanting him to victorious. If he were to turn on Cena, then that could shift those who don’t have an opinion of Cena to his side.

This concept is hopefully to bring Sun Life Stadium to as close to 50/50 as possible, which will give the main event at WrestleMania the best atmosphere that you could dream of.

Think about it: You have one of the most popular (positive or negative) wrestlers in the industry in Cena and one of the most influential wrestlers in WWE history with The Rock. The company has made it apparent that they want this to be the most watched pay-per-view in the history of the company. Expect some type of betrayal. 

It seemed a bit ridiculous to have such a long buildup to WrestleMania 28 when this “rivalry” came to fruition. It’s growing strength as we move closer to WrestleMania 28, but after Sunday night, we will all be counting down the days when these two titans clash.
