Survivor Series 2011: Dolph Ziggler Is the Next Shawn Michaels

Dolph Ziggler is the next Shawn Michaels. That’s why the WWE loves Ziggler so much.

The WWE is always looking for that next star to take the company to a new level. They found their man in Ziggler.

Just like Shawn Michaels came into the WWE with a group and distinguished himself, Ziggler came in with the Spirit Squad. While the Rockers had far more success, the fact that Ziggler distinguished himself from the squad shows the company saw something even back then.

After reinventing his career as Dolph Ziggler, the future star took on the cocky character that is in love with himself. That sounds eerily similar to the heel gimmick The Heartbreak Kid used after his departure from the Rockers.

It’s obvious that the WWE has been shaping Ziggler to be the next pretty boy heel in the mold of Shawn Michaels or “Mr. Prefect” Curt Hennig.

Just like Shawn Michaels had success early in his career, Ziggler has already won the World title, Intercontinental title and is the current US Champion. But it’s not just the path they’ve traveled and the attitude they carry that’s similar.

When you watch a Dolph Ziggler match, this is a kid who gives everything he has in each match. More importantly, he sells moves with the best of them today and puts over the people that need it.

Shawn Michael could carry a match, and the fact that the WWE is asking Dolph Ziggler to wrestle in two matches for the second PPV shows that they believe he can do the things Michaels did.

While Michaels was far better on the microphone, Ziggler has learned how to play the heel. It shows in the way he cuts promos and handles himself in the ring as a heel as well.

Both men share the ability to hold the crowd whether they are faces or heels, which makes them one in the same.

As long as the WWE keeps pushing Ziggler and striking while the iron is hot, there is no reason that Ziggler can’t become the next Shawn Michaels.

Ziggler has the super kick down pretty well, too.
