Randy Orton and Legacy, What's Next?

Joe Burgett Dec 19, 2008

If you have been watching WWE RAW as I have every Monday, you'd know a new faction has been formed, Legacy. The team includes: Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Manu.

I don't like Manu in this, but hey you cannot pick sometimes. He is the muscle I guess, so that is why they keep him. Ted Dibiase Jr. was with Cody Rhodes as a tag team partner, and one night Dibiase interfered in Randy Orton's match.

This was significant because it was Orton's first match back from injury. Dibiase interfered costing Orton his match because Dibiase attacked CM Punk first, causing a DQ.

Orton was furious and punted Dibiase's head off, causing him to be sidelined until he finishes the Marine 2. I don't know how he acts with such head pain, but that is another story.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Dibiase's return, will he join Legacy or want revenge on Orton? Many people have related Dibiase to Orton when he first arrived in the WWE.

I think it would be a great match, because we have seen Dibiase in tag action mainly. Seeing him develop into a singles star as the WWE wants will be a fun transition to see.

Legacy is supposed to be Orton's answer to Evolution. A faction that had a Hall of Famer in Ric Flair, a 12 time World Champion in Triple H, Batista a World Champion. And of course Randy Orton calls himself the crown jewel.

He bad mouthed Evolution, which many believe launched his career. This caused Batista to erupt in anger. So they matched up at Armageddon where Batista won. Orton comes out the next night and tempts Batista with a slap.

He comes out to the ring, and boom he gets attacked by Legacy. The same night Deuce comes out and says he would be liked to be called by his real name, Sim Snuka.

Now Snuka is not a blood son of Jimmy Snuka, he is adopted so he may not be the same as the others in Legacy. All are blood sons of a former WWE star.

Many believe that Deuce was not released along with Domino and Cherry because he isn't a second generation star. It will be interesting to see if he joins Legacy as well.

Orton is actually a third generation star, so when you think about it he is the odd ball in Legacy. Yet he is the leader of them. Manu and Rhodes are second generation, if Duece were to join he would be second generation too.

So why is he in? The only reason to me is because he wants to have his own Evolution. He wants Manu to be Batista, he wants Rhodes to be the young stud and he wants to still be the crown jewel.

In Evolution you had veteran talent along with young talent. It is all young talent in Legacy. I know Orton is in there, but he cannot be considered a veteran to much. He is still in his 20s.

They need to add a second generation veteran to have another Evolution to me. So what is next for Legacy? They already are main eventing, yet have no tag titles, IC Title or World Titles to their credit.

If they want to be another Evolution they will have to have something. Orton had the IC Title, Batista and Flair has the tag gold, and Triple H had the World Title. For now they look like young punks trying to make an impact.

This will not last, now if they were to get more members they may be alright. Evolution had four members. DX had many members, NWO had three for a while, but then added more both in the WWE and WCW, and even the Nation of Domination had a crowd with them.

Legacy cannot do it with just Rhodes, Orton, and Manu. I don't like Manu to begin with. Some call him the new Umaga, but I cannot stand him. He brings nothing to the plate. Even when he was with Dibiase and Rhodes as back up muscle he was terrible.

Manu will not have much of a future I think. He does not connect or show promise as many heel or other wrestlers do. Rhodes and of course Orton are great young studs who have a great looking future.

If it were just Orton and Rhodes and if Dibiase were to join, I think you'd have a dynasty. That team would be remembered. I am a big fan of Dibiase and Rhodes.

But as I said before to see a match between Dibiase and Orton would be great. Maybe they can do a match where if Dibiase loses he has to join Legacy, just a thought.

What do you think about Legacy?
