BCS Rankings: Clemson Tigers Will Fall out of Top 15
The Clemson Tigers suffered a humiliating defeat this week and they will fall out of the Top 15 in the BCS rankings.
After losing to an unranked, 5-5 North Carolina State team that was 2-4 in conference play the Tigers are about to drop like a lead weight.
The Tigers were 9-1 coming into today with their other loss coming 31-17 against an unranked Georgia Tech team. This is their second big loss to an unranked school, and that will be their doom.
The Tigers have had to come from behind in plenty of games this season, and most of those games have been against bad teams. The only reason they are still in the Top 10 is because they went through three good teams.
The Tigers beat then-ranked No. 21 Auburn, No.11 Florida State and No. 11 Virginia Tech in three straight weeks. They beat VT on the road 23-3, which was huge for them. The also beat Auburn by 14 and FSU by five.
However, they have struggled down the stretch, having to make up a huge deficit against Maryland and beating Wake Forest by only three points.
The Tigers have shot themselves in the foot, and with this embarrassing 37-13 loss to a team like NC State they are no longer a top team in the nation.
Clemson was outplayed by the Wolfpack the whole game, and there was no way the Tigers were going to win today.
Clemson has the talent to be a great team, but being blown out by a team that is not bowl-eligible yet shows that they don't know what to do with it. The Tigers are a mess right now, and if they don't turn things around and make a statement against No. 12 South Carolina next week then they don't deserve even a Top 15 ranking.
The Tigers just took themselves out of the Orange Bowl, and now they will have to settle for a smaller bowl against a worse team that can still beat them if they come out as flat as they did today.
