UFC 139 Results: Martin Kampmann vs. Rick Story Breakdown and Prediction

In a battle of two welterweights in need of a victory, Martin Kampmann (17-5) and Rick Story (13-4) will look to rebound from recent defeats when they meet on the UFC 139 main card later tonight.

Kampmann enters the fight as a five-year UFC veteran who has ventured from the middleweight division to where he sits now as a contender in the 170 pound weight class. With back-to-back disputed losses against Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez in his last two fights, Kampmann could easily be sitting on a four-fight win streak had both decisions gone his way.

Story enters the fight coming off his loss to Charlie Brenneman in June. It was a fight he accepted on late notice after winning seven straight in the UFC, which included victories over Thiago Alves, Dustin Hazelett and Johny Hendricks.

If Kampmann's last two fights were of any indication, he should be forceful in his attack against Story, who has never been stopped in his entire MMA career. Many thought the Danish fighter did enough to deserve victories against Shields and Sanchez, and neither decision went his way.

It's going to be tough for Kampmann to keep up the pace without having to deal with the same pressure coming right back at him. Story isn't one to sit back and wait, and he will be in Kampmann's face from the first bell to the last.

Kampmann has the tendency to sit on the cage and let his opponent unload on him, so this could be bad news if he lets Story be the aggressor with his brutal body attack. That's mainly what it comes down to, and this is likely to go the distance considering both fighters are hard to finish.

Kampmann didn't really show he had learned much from the Shields fight when it comes to seizing his advantage and going for the finish in the fight with Sanchez, and he will probably make the same mistakes again.

It's a close fight on the cards, and it's going to go in favor of the more aggressive Story.

Prediction: Rick Story wins by Unanimous Decision.
