WWE Rumors: Rob Van Dam Interested in a WWE Return?

Well, I can't say I am shocked.

According to this report, Rob Van Dam is "seriously considering" a return to WWE. He debuted with TNA on March 8th, 2010, before winning their top title a month later.

All of this comes from the official Twitter account of PowerSlam wrestling magazine.

My thoughts on this rumor?

I am torn. On one hand, his TNA run has been a disaster. He was given the TNA title a month after debuting. His matches never seemed enthusiastic, and I just have lost interest in RVD over the years.

It has been about 15 years of the same thing. His "Yeah man, whatever" personality worked in the 1990s, but in 2011? Going forward in 2012 and beyond? Sorry, I don't care.

He wears the same attire. He does the same spots. He does the same taunts, and he has the same character from over a decade ago.

Since dropping the TNA title late last year (never got beat for it), he has just been "there." As usual, TNA just can't grab onto a major player and make them mean something.

The long line of main event performers going to TNA, only to make no "impact," is just amazing—Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, RVD, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Team 3D, Nash, Booker T, Sting, Scott Steiner, Mick Foley and countless others.

Eventually, they will all see the light. One company is run by Vince McMahon. The other is not.

As for him possibly returning to WWE?

I don't know. He seems to be on pretty good terms with the company. He made a cameo on Raw at the end of 2007, and he even was in the 2009 Royal Rumble as a surprise.

If he is going to return, I am going to want to see a "new" character. If it is the same man we have seen the past couple years, I will pass.
