UFC 139 Results: Kyle Kingsbury Will Continue Win Streak Against Stephan Bonnar

Josh SchochNov 19, 2011

When Stephan Bonnar and Kyle Kingsbury fight tonight at UFC 139 Kingsbury will show that he is a star-in-the-making.

Kingsbury is a superb athlete who played football at Arizona State before making a strong run on "The Ultimate Fighter."  He showed that he has the potential to be a great fighter on the reality show, but that he lacked the proper coaching.

He's found that coaching now, and on a four-fight win streak he looks like a blossoming star.  He has handled his opponents well, and he now fights Bonnar for the chance to be a fringe contender.

Bonnar seems to be a test for fighters like Kingsbury: if you can beat him you're on your way up in the UFC world.  Bonnar is a mediocre fighter who has become a good fighter with a high tolerance for pain and the heart of a champion.

Unfortunately Bonnar doesn't have the natural ability to be a champion, but he is a good test for Kingsbury.

The two actually have a similar fighting style.  The only difference is that Kingsbury is the better athlete who has found good coaching, while Bonnar relies on his tolerance and heart to make up for his lack of athletic ability.

Kingsbury is going to be the better fighter for sure.  It will certainly be a close fight, but his athleticism will be the deciding factor.

This could easily be deemed the Fight of the Night.  These two fighters could turn this fight into a violent, three-round fight that steals the show.  The main event between Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Dan Henderson is going to be a first-round KO for Shogun, so that leaves this fight available to win Fight of the Night.

Look for Kingsbury's athletic ability to help him extend his win streak to five and set him up as a fringe contender.
