WWE Rumors: Rob Van Dam Seriously Considering Return to the WWE

Imaan JalaliNov 19, 2011

According to NoDQ.com, there was a blind item posted on the Power Slam wrestling magazine's Twitter feed this past Thursday, November 17th:

The tweet said, "Someone told me this week that Rob Van Dam is seriously considering a return to WWE."

Such a rumor isn't all that surprising: The 40-year-old has not been optimally used in TNA Wrestling since joining Dixie Carter's company in March 2010.

In the first year of his TNA tenure, Van Dam was regularly featured in PPV main events. He won the TNA world title and even headlined TNA Hardcore Justice—the organization's version of ECW One Night Stand—in August 2010.

However, in the last few months, the former WWE champion has succumbed to Sting. He has been saddled with a dead-end feud with Jerry Lynn and has been a card-carrying member of the mid-card—where he just recently had a match with Christopher Daniels at Turning Point 2011.

Although the acrobatic, hardcore marvel has slowed down, from an athletic standpoint, he still has a lot to contribute in the wrestling world, be it TNA or the WWE.

In the WWE—where he last appeared as a one-time, surprise entrant in the 2009 Royal Rumble—Van Dam can begin anew with a clean slate. He left on ignominious terms in June 2007.

That all depends on RVD, however, and to the extent he is willing to either curtail or downplay his marijuana use (about which he has been publicly forthcoming).

After all, it was the discovery of 18 grams of marijuana in RVD's rental car—upon being pulled over by an Ohio State trooper—that led to the then-ECW and WWE champion having to relinquish both titles to The Big Show and Edge, respectively, in July 2006.

If the pony-tailed, martial artist can adapt to the modern-day WWE, he'll have a multitude of new feuds and matches ahead of him.
