NFL Picks Week 11: Teams That Will Reinforce the Fact That They're Awful

Richard LangfordNov 19, 2011

Cleveland is one of the three worst teams in the league. There record doesn't reflect that, but their reality does. The Jaguars will prove that fact in Week 11.

Don't worry Browns fans, you'll have company at the bottom with the other two teams in this list.

Certified Awful: Browns

The Browns have lost five of their last six games. The one game they did manage to win was a 6-3 showdown at home against the Seahawks.

In that process, they have fairly well cemented the fact that they are awful. Over their last four games the Browns are averaging just 9.25 points per game.

The Browns passing offense is stagnant. They are 24th in the NFL in yards gained per game, and the sorry fact of the matter is that passing game has been more productive than their running game (ranked 30th in yards per game).

The key stat for this contest does not come from the Browns offense. Cleveland is ranked 30th in rushing yards allowed per game.

This will doom them against a Jaguars team that loves to run the football. The Jaguars are 11th in rushing yards per game. And that number is even more impressive considering they have spent most of the season trailing in games.

Prediction: Jauguars 23, Browns 10

Certified Awful: Redskins

Wait one second, and the Redskins will be even worse than they were. Washington is currently a study in perpetual disintegration. This fact is not lost on the Redskins own players.

Case in point, DT Barry Colfield:

Their defense, which started off great, is slipping. They are now 18th in rushing yards allowed per game, and 17th in yards allowed per carry. DeMarco Murray and the Cowboys will exploit that.

The 'Skins have lost five straight. During that stretch the Redskins' offense has been crippled by injuries, and having a QB named either Beck or Grossman.

They will continue to be inept against the Cowboys. Dallas' weakness on D is stopping the run. They are ranked just 20th in yards allowed per rush.

However, the Redskins will be helpless to exploit that. They are now 25th in yards gained per rush.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys rushing attack is thriving.

Murray has rushed for at least 135 yards in three of his four starts. For the season he is averaging 6.7 yards per carry. He will abuse a Redskins defense that is now 18th in rushing yards allowed per game.

Prediction: Cowboys 31, Redskins 10

Certified Awful: Chiefs

Considering that most of the Chiefs' best players are on the IR (Eric Berry, Jamaal Charles, Tony Moeaki) or may close to the IR (Matt Cassel), you can't really blame them for being awful.

But awful they are nonetheless.

Kansas City has lost its last two games by a combined score of 38-13. And now Tyler Palko is their QB. This is bad new for the Chiefs in this game.

The Patriots' one true weakness is their pass defense. They are 32nd in passing yards allowed per game.

It's hard to see Palko leading an offense that was struggling anyway to any success in this game.

On the other side of the ball, the Chiefs are ranked 16th passing defense. They will be facing the No. 1 passing offense.

This is a horrible matchup for the Chiefs at this particular moment. And when it is over they, and their fans, will be ready to call it a season before anyone else gets hurt.

Prediction: Patriots 31, Chiefs 6
