Survivor Series 2011: Kane Return Will Highlight Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Mike ChiariNov 20, 2011

When World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry and the Big Show meet in the ring, it is rarely going to be a technically-sound match. In fact, it is often going to be a fairly short and boring contest, and that figures to be the case at Survivor Series.

With that said, it is completely understandable why these two behemoths are currently feuding. Henry put Big Show out of commission with an ankle injury, so regardless of whether we want to see Big Show in high-profile matches, it’s a necessary evil.

While the Henry/Big Show match at Survivor Series isn’t going to steal the show by any means, there is one saving grace that could make it worthwhile. Assuming Henry wins as he should, he will likely attempt to injure Big Show once again after the match.

As Henry is doing this, Kane will make his triumphant return in order to save Big Show from further injury. This would make perfect sense from Kane’s perspective as not only was Henry the one who injured him, but he partnered with Big Show shortly before his hiatus.

This would signal the end of Henry’s feud with Big Show and transition into a new feud with Kane. While Kane isn’t exactly the most exciting option for a main-event spot either, he can still do fairly well in the ring for a big man and he had his moments as World Heavyweight Champion last summer.

Whether we want to see it or not, the fact is that Kane has to get his shot at Henry’s title just as Big Show did for the sake of consistency. The feud doesn’t necessarily have to last long, but Henry has to keep getting past respectable challengers in order to continue building his persona.

Kane isn’t the same character he used to be, but he still gets a very solid crowd reaction. Because of that, his return at Survivor Series would be a pretty good moment. Not only would it freshen up the title picture a bit, but it would be another piece of Henry’s bridge to WrestleMania.

I firmly believe at this point that Henry is perfectly capable and deserving of holding the title until April 1 so he can take on Daniel Bryan, who vowed to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. This would be the perfect David vs. Goliath story, but it would be absolutely incumbent upon Henry holding the title for the long haul.

Anybody that Henry feuds with from this point forward should be considered little more than a fill in as he bides his time until WrestleMania. There is no question that Kane will be returning at some point to challenge Henry, and Survivor Series seems like the perfect time with Henry currently embroiled in a feud with Big Show.
