WWE Survivor Series 2011 Predictions for Every Match

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 18, 2011

Warning, this article contains minor spoilers from this week's SmackDown tapings regarding new matches set for Survivor Series.

This Sunday is WWE's 25th annual Survivor Series PPV and it will be taking place from the historic Madison Square Garden in New York.

WWE is making sure that everyone and their mother knows that the Rock is making his much awaited return to the ring this Sunday to team up with his WrestleMania 28 opponent John Cena.

This is not the only big match on the card, as CM Punk will be facing Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship and Big Show will be challenging Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship.

This is a PPV the WWE has been trying to build up to be as successful as this year's Money in the Bank PPV.

I have high hopes for the night for many reasons, all of which will be mentioned throughout the slideshow.

Eve vs Beth Phoenix for the WWE Divas Title in a Lumberjill Match

1 of 6

Beth Phoenix will take on Eve Torres this Sunday in a lumberjill match for the WWE Divas Championship in a match that is one I think could end up being better than expected by most.

Beth Phoenix is a talented performer who has consistently improved over her time with WWE so far. Eve is also someone who I feel has taken great strides to improve in the ring.

Eve gets more flack than I think she deserves for many reasons. She is always lumped in with the other Divas who were models, but she is also an accomplished dancer, which is a very physical profession.

Since her debut after the 2007 Divas search, she has gone from being as green as goose crap to being one of the only women who can pull off a moonsault.

I am not saying she is the next Trish Stratus, but with some hard work and dedication she could create her own legacy to leave behind.

With all that said I still think Beth Phoenix is going to retain. The team of Beth and Natalya are too powerful right now among the Divas, but you never know how the other lumberjills will act, knowing how Beth and Natalya have treated them lately.

You can already assume Natalya will do anything to help Beth, but will the other Divas help Eve is the question.

I included the video of the match between Beth and Eve from Raw on Sept. 5; take a look and decide for yourself who is the likely winner.

Prediction: Beth Phoenix retains.

Traditional Elimination Match: Team Barrett vs. Team Orton

2 of 6

The match that Survivor Series is based on will feature many of WWE's up-and-coming superstars as well as serve as a match to continue several feuds through the PPV.

Randy Orton has been going at it with Cody Rhodes for a few months now, and Wade Barrett seems to have also started up a program with Orton and maybe even Sheamus judging by the couple of matches they have had lately.

Also currently embroiled in a bitter rivalry are Hunico and Sin Cara. Hunico recently took on Primo and Epico as teammates, so it will be interesting to see if they play into the match this Sunday.

Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler have also had their issues with Kofi Kingston over the tag team titles and Mason Ryan over the US title. I am looking for Ziggler to be one of the top performers in this match.

I am going to have to say that despite Randy Orton being the current face of SmackDown, Team Barrett is my pick to take home the win, and I will even predict that Ziggler and Barrett will be the last remaining members of the team.

Prediction: Team Barrett wins with Ziggler and Barrett left on the team

United States Championship: Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison

3 of 6

WWE.com posted the news this past week that Dolph Ziggler would be defending his US title against John Morrison in what will be the second PPV in a row where Ziggler is pulling double duty.

Dolph is a very valuable talent for WWE and it shows their faith in his abilities by having him be in two matches in two PPVs back to back, something I am not sure I have ever seen before.

Despite Morrison looking like he may be on his way back up, I still think Dolph will pull out the win on Sunday.

He is simply too good as US champion right now for WWE to take the belt away from him. His team with Swagger could not get the job done against Air Boom last time, and with Evan being out on suspension this is the only title he has to focus on.

I am a huge supporter of both Morrison and Ziggler, and I think within five years they will both be in the top level of WWE superstars in the locker room.

Dolph is still managed by Vickie and if she and Swagger get involved in the match it could make retaining the title that much easier for Mr. Ziggles. (Can't remember which wrestler came up with that nickname but I still think it's funny) (It was Morrison - ED.)

Prediction: Dolph Ziggler retains

John Cena and the Rock vs. Awesome Truth

4 of 6

This match is one I am more split on than any of the other matches on the card. On one hand, having Cena or Rock leave their opponent alone to lose the match would further their feud and help Miz and Truth look strong.

But on the other hand, Cena and Rock are WWE's two biggest money makes in the past couple decades so having them win may be the safe way for them to go.

Rock and Cena cannot work together, that much was made clear this past Monday when despite being up against Awesome Truth in a brawl, they could not coexist.

It was also evident that Rocky detests Cena by the fact that he abruptly stopped Cena's "This is your life" segment that Mick Foley was putting on by giving a Rock Bottom to Foley.

I am sure that at WrestleMania, Cena will get the win simply because putting over someone who won't come back after Mania is over makes no sense.

That is why I feel like this Sunday, one of the two will turn heel, or at least turn on his partner and Awesome Truth will take advantage and get the win.

Prediction: Awesome Truth wins

Mark Henry vs Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship

5 of 6

Mark Henry will once again be defending the World Championship against Big Show in a match that could not possibly top their last encounter.

These two big men are two of WWE's longer-standing veterans, and even though a lot of people find their matches boring, I actually enjoy them because you don't get to see two giants like that face off that much these days.

I was raised in the days of guys like Big John Studd, Earthquake, Andre the Giant and The Undertaker, so seeing giants face off is something I miss seeing.

Henry has been on quite a role since winning the strap from Orton and it does not look like he is slowing down anytime soon.

Henry has also been beating the crap out of Daniel Bryan on a weekly basis, so I have a feeling he will be involved this Sunday in some way.

I am not looking for Bryan to cash in his case, but to get involved on behalf of The Big Show. Henry has few friends in any who would come and help him which could give Show the extra advantage he needs.

I think it is time to put a world title back on Big Show. He has been back with WWE for a few years now and they have wasted him in my opinion. I want to see the most dominant guy in the ring finally show it.

Prediction: Big Show wins the title from Mark Henry

Alberto Del Rio vs CM Punk for the WWE Championship

6 of 6

The match which should be the main event, but won't be because The Rock is on the card, is the WWE Championship match between current champ Alberto Del Rio and challenger CM Punk.

Since Punk returned from his short time away from WWE while holding the championship hostage he and Del Rio have been going at it over the title, with John Cena mixing it up in their too.

Del Rio is a strong heel and has been a good champion in my opinion, but he has been booked to look a little weaker lately, which makes me think he will be the one who is defeated this Sunday.

Punk is one of wrestling's hottest commodities right now and if WWE wants to utilize him to his fullest potential then giving him a real run with the title from Sunday until WrestleMania would be the best way to show it.

I like Del Rio, but I feel he was pushed to the main event too early. He did not have time to build up enough of a heel persona in my opinion.

He is still working off the arrogant aristocrat gimmick and I think it may be hurting his progression. I think losing the cars during the entrance may be the way to start the process of changing his character a little.

Punk is in a good position to win the belt after having made Del Rio tap out to the Anaconda vise while demanding his title shot a couple weeks ago.

Despite Rodriguez always being a factor in Del Rio's matches I have to say that Punk will get the win and the title this Sunday.

Prediction: CM Punk wins to become the new WWE Champion

There you have it folks, please feel free to share you thoughts and predictions for the event below.
