WWE Survivor Series 2011: CM Punk Will Begin His Reign over WWE

Donald WoodNov 19, 2011

CM Punk took the WWE universe by storm this summer, but a lack of solid booking has caused his momentum to stall.

When CM Punk wins the WWE title at Survivor Series against Alberto Del Rio, he will bring the excitement back to the company that he had after Money in the Bank.

None of this would be a problem if the WWE had played this scenario correctly from jump street.

Instead of brining the WWE champion back from his free agency period that included some of the best underground photos and videos in a long time as fast as they did, the company should have allowed him to build more of an outlaw following.

Instead of playing up the feud over the dual WWE champions like they should have, the WWE rushed CM Punk back so that the company could unify the titles.

They also wanted John Cena in the mix.

While Cena and Punk had one of the better series of matches this year, the WWE knew it had to get Cena ready for a program with the Rock. That’s where Del Rio came in.

With CM Punk the hottest commodity the company had at the time, they chose to let him feud with Del Rio. That would be fine if they hadn’t given the strap right to Del Rio.

There was no buildup, just a Kevin Nash jackknife that has turned out to be nothing in terms of storylines. With Cena against The Rock for the next few months, this should be the time CM Punk begins his first true storyline run of the year.

The WWE needs it.

With the product growing stale week by week, the WWE needs the wildcard CM Punk shooting his mouth off in every RAW main event. That’s what he does.

Del Rio isn’t carrying the weight of the championship, and CM Punk can. It seems simple to me.
