WWE Survivor Series 2011 Predictions: The Rock and John Cena Will Put Feud Aside
The Rock and John Cena are not exactly best buddies.
My guess is that more obvious things have been said, but it's true that saying The Rock and Cena are not best buddies is kind of like saying that dogs and cats don't like each other. It's practically common knowledge, and it's something that borders on being common sense for those in the know.
Buddies or not, The Rock and Cena are going to have a job to do on Sunday night at Survivor Series. Their alliance, such as it is, was formed for one reason and one reason only: to battle and defeat the "Awesome Truth" duo of The Miz and R-Truth.

There are numerous ways this battle could play out. I think we're all anticipating the alliance between The Rock and Cena to fail. The Rock could betray Cena, and Cena could betray The Rock. This could happen via a simple refusal to tag in, or we could see their alliance go up in flames a little more violently.
Shoot, for all we know, a UFO could descend from the ceiling, abduct both of them and drop them off on a distant planet. Presumably, even that wouldn't convince them to put their feud 100 percent to the side.
The short version of all this is that there's just no way these two are going to coexist, right? There's simply too much animosity between them, and one way or another, the task at hand will be left unaccomplished.
A peaceful coexistence and a by-the-numbers victory is simply too good to be true.
But, as they say, you must expect the unexpected.
That's how I'm approaching this thing, anyway. We've been set up to witness a battle within a battle and the death of an already flimsy partnership, but the possibility certainly exists that The Rock and Cena will put their differences aside and dispatch a duo many think they have no chance in hell of actually beating together.
To be sure, it's going to take something unforeseen to get The Rock and Cena to coexist, some sort of catalyst to convince them that they're better off teaming up rather than continuing to one-up each other.
As for what this catalyst might be, I have to say I don't really have any ideas. That's something I'll leave to the WWE string-pullers.
If this actually happens, the big question will be where The Rock and Cena go next. Their alliance could very well break once The Mix and R-Truth are lying in ruin on the canvas. If that doesn't happen, perhaps the stability will hold true, and The Rock and Cena will become [gasp!] buddies.
Wouldn't that be something? Next thing we know, we could be treated to a clip of The Rock and Cena frolicking up and down a beach, a la Rocky and Apollo Creed.
That would probably be a bit much. After all, it would be irresponsible for WWE to blow that many minds.
...But I'm not ruling it out either.
