WWE Survivor Series 2011: Why Zack Ryder Has No US Title Match on Sunday

Drake OzNov 18, 2011

Zack Ryder is not getting a United States Championship match against Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series? Are you serious, bro?

Yes, I am.

Despite lobbying fans and fellow wrestlers to sign a petition in hopes of ensuring himself the title shot, Ryder missed out on his chance at wrestling Ziggler on Sunday. Instead, it’ll be John Morrison who wrestles Ziggler for the US title inside Madison Square Garden.

We have no backstage news on why Ryder isn’t getting his match, but WWE.com is giving us a storyline reason as to why Morrison was chosen over Ryder:

"

When asked why The Long Island Iced-Z would not be facing Ziggler for the storied U.S. Championship this Sunday, Mr. Laurinaitis provided this explanation:

"I think I'm being very generous because John Morrison was on a losing streak which he seemed to have broken with a victory over Dolph Ziggler in a match last week. I'm all about giving talent opportunities and I feel that John Morrison has earned an opportunity to compete for the United States Championship."

"

Guess what, WWE? I’m not buying it.

The WWE website is playing up Ryder’s failure to get a United States Championship match for a reason, and here’s what I think’s going to happen at Survivor Series.

The show is set to start off with the match between Ziggler and Morrison, but before the bell can ring, the Madison Square Garden crowd starts chanting, “We want Ryder! We want Ryder! We want Ryder!”

Out comes John Laurinaitis who says he’s “all about giving opportunities”, and since the fans want to see Ryder get a US title shot, this bout is now a Triple Threat Match.

Ryder makes his way to the ring, and toward the end of an eight-to-10 minute match, he hits the Rough Ryder on Morrison. That way, Ziggler still looks strong heading into his second match later in the night, Morrison takes his final loss in the WWE and Ryder wins his first singles titles in the WWE.

Ryder’s hometown crowd would go crazy, and Survivor Series would start off on a good note that would set the tone for the rest of the pay-per-view.

Man, I should be on the creative team.
