Week 11 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Roy Helu and More Bums to Bench

Alex KayNov 17, 2011

Week 11 is crucial in fantasy football and you cannot afford to screw it up with the playoffs looming right around the corner.

One way to avoid this is to bench players who will not be productive and have terrible matchups.

Here are three players I have identified who will not succeed this week despite being relatively consistent in recent games.

Roy Helu

Helu was a PPR superstar two weeks ago after he racked up 14 catches against the San Francisco 49ers. He came back to earth the last week with a 54 total yard performance against the Dolphins and will continue his slump on Sunday.

The Redskins take on the Cowboys, who have been solid on run defense and have only allowed five touchdowns all season on the ground. They also kept Helu to 32 combined yards in their last outing.

Look for him to put up similar stats this week and you would do better to find a replacement.

Tony Romo

On the other side of that Cowboys vs. Redskins matchup we have QB Tony Romo.

Romo was excellent last week in a 23-of-26 for 270 yards and three-touchdown performance. This week he will cool off against a team that he struggles with.

In the last matchup, the ‘Skins contained Romo and he only produced to the tune of 22 completions on 36 attempts for 255 yards and an interception.

He has never been particularly great against Washington, and that streak won’t end in Week 11.

A.J. Green

Green has been a solid fantasy option in his rookie year, but he may not even see the field against the Ravens this week.

He left the game with an injury on his touchdown grab against the Steelers last week and is a game-time decision.

Even if Green does suit up, the Ravens have been stifling their opposition’s passing game. They have given up just six touchdowns all year on receptions and absolutely hound the QB.

It will be a long day for Andy Dalton out there regardless if Green is on the field or not. Don’t expect much from the Bengals’ QB or receivers.
