NFL Week 11 Picks: Projecting Teams That Will Win with Offensive Fireworks

Chris TrapassoNov 17, 2011

Offensive fireworks can come in a variety of ways in today's NFL

For the most part, we've seen teams go to the air to accumulate major yardage and score a ton of points.

It can be a ground assault, too.

Which teams will win with an offensive explosion in Week 11?

Oakland Raiders

Not the first team that comes to mind.

I get that.

However, this matchup with the Vikings is a great one for Oakland.

Minnesota's 30th-ranked pass defense will allow Carson Palmer to get more comfortable behind center and find his playmakers down the field.

It was Jacoby Ford in his first start, and Denarius Moore last week—chances are it'll be someone different against the Vikings.

Oakland's rushing attack is potent against any defense, so ignore the fact that Minnesota is stout against the run.

Even if Darren McFadden doesn't go, Michael Bush will shoulder the load.

I'm not expecting 200-plus yards from scrimmage, but he'll again be a force carrying the rock.

With Palmer settling in and their dominance up front blocking for their bruising backs, the Raiders will score at will on Sunday and will assert themselves as a dangerous team for the remainder of the season.

New York Giants

Man, the Eagles are in rough shape. They're coming off two home losses, the most recent coming in embarrassing fashion (what else is new?), and it's unlikely Michael Vick will play this week against the Giants.

New York's offense is clicking at the right time. Although they came up short against the 49ers last week, they moved the ball efficiently against the best defense in football.

Eli Manning's outstanding season stems directly from his stellar offensive line (sacked only 16 times) and his youthful receiving corps.

Philadelphia won't be able to contain Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz the entire game, and you can't forget about huge target Jake Ballard across the middle.

He's become one of Manning's favorite targets, especially in the red zone.

Although they've had some recent issues running the football with Ahmad Bradshaw sidelined, their passing attack should again exploit the Eagles' over-hyped defensive backfield.

New England Patriots

I hate to throw in an obvious one, but I can't ignore the Patriots' matchup with the Chiefs at home on Monday night.

Tom Brady bounced back from back-to-back subpar efforts with a more typical Tom Brady-type game against the Jets last week, with more than 300 yards through the air and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

The Chiefs don't have the worst defense in the league, but they're hardly on the Jets' level.

Wes Welker should work his usual magic underneath and Rob Gronkowski should have no trouble working his way down the middle of the field.

At home in prime time, the Patriots show the nation that despite a midseason hiccup, they are still one of the most dangerous teams in football.
