NFL Picks Week 11: Games to Avoid Watching If You Like Offense

Michael DixonNov 16, 2011

When trying to predict how high scoring a game will be, we need to look at a few things. Are the offenses bad? Are the defenses good?

Those questions all need to be answered. One or both of those questions is a resounding "yes" for all six teams listed below.

Okay, that's nothing new. But while I am certainly not a weatherman, that's also becoming more of a factor. Even if the field isn't snowy, we're now seeing higher winds and colder temperatures, which tend to suggest lower scoring games.

No, it's not a coincidence that these games are all being played outdoors in cities known for the occasional bad weather day.

New York Jets at Denver Broncos

Has either one of these teams given you any reason to be even remotely confident in their offense? Anyone?

Okay, me neither.

Mark Sanchez can be an excellent game manager and Tim Tebow is certainly capable of making great plays, but these are horribly inconsistent offenses.

When they meet up on Sunday night, I see a lot of punts, a few field goals and probably fewer than three combined trips to the end zone. I doubt we see 40 combined points.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Cleveland Browns

Quite frankly, these are two of the worst teams in the league. Where they are both very good is on the defensive side.

So, if you're following me correctly, the reason they are bad is that their offenses aren't any good.

When two teams with bad offenses and good defenses meet in Cleveland in the middle of November, it doesn't exactly bode well for a lot of points.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

These two are the good versions of the Jaguars and Browns. Neither team has a particularly daunting offense, but both defenses are stellar.

Look for that to show this week when they lock up in Baltimore. I am expecting a hard hitting, stereotypical AFC North affair.

We certainly won't see a lot of points, but we will see a good game.

Predictions:

Jets 20, Broncos 14

Jaguars 17, Browns 13

Ravens 23, Bengals 17
