BCS Standings: 10 Remaining Games That Will Have Most Influence on Title Picture

Scott L. HutchinsonNov 15, 2011

Just four weeks remain in the college football regular season and the postseason picture is becoming more clear with each passing week.

Still, the race for the national championship game remains wide open.

Here's a look at ten regular season games still left to play that could go a long way in determining which two programs will have a shot at the title come season's end.

Oklahoma State at Iowa State: November 18

1 of 10

No. 2 Oklahoma State has looked absolutely unstoppable all season long, but the beauty of college football is that anything can happen on any given weekend.

Despite having only a 5-4 record, Iowa State could potentially pose a serious threat for the Cowboys. The Cyclones are riding a two-game win streak after wins over Texas Tech and Kansas, and they have shown the ability to light up the scoreboard when they have things clicking.

Oklahoma State should get out of this one unharmed, but it may not be as much of a "gimme" as many are expecting.

Oklahoma at Baylor: November 19

2 of 10

In one of this weekend' biggest matchups, No. 5 Oklahoma is traveling to Texas to take on Heisman hopeful Robert Griffin III and the No. 22 Baylor Bears.

Oklahoma's title hopes are essentially in the hands of the four teams ranked above them, but a win over Baylor certainly wouldn't hurt their cause. A loss, however, would make a championship run all but impossible.

Look for the Sooners to step it up this weekend and keep their case for a title shot alive.

USC at Oregon: November 19

3 of 10

Oregon catapulted themselves into the title picture last weekend with a huge win over Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal, but yet another big-time challenge awaits them this Saturday.

USC is coming to Eugene, and as they showed in their blowout victory over Washington last weekend, the Trojans mean business.

Oregon is undoubtedly one of the nation's most talented programs, but USC has enough weapons to surprise the Ducks and stop their potential title run in its tracks.

Simply put, this game has huge title implications.

Alabama at Auburn: November 26

4 of 10

This year's Alabama vs. Auburn rivalry game doesn't have the same buzz surrounding it that last year's contest did, but it's still a remarkably important game.

Auburn's 2011 season has been a bit of a disappointment, but the Tigers and their loyal followers would love nothing more than to the spoil the Crimson Tide's hopes for a championship.

An upset victory over 'Bama would certainly do the trick.

This has all of the makings of a huge, late-season trap game, and Alabama has to come to play if they hope to stay in the running for a championship berth.

LSU at Ole Miss: November 19

5 of 10

Ole Miss has had a miserable 2-8 2011 season, but they still have a chance to make some noise as they play host to No. 1 LSU this weekend.

On paper the matchup looks completely lopsided, but if LSU isn't careful they could find themselves in a much closer ball game than they might like.

The Rebels shouldn't present much of a challenge, but the Tigers could very well be overlooking this weekend's contest as they have a much more important matchup with No. 6 Arkansas the following week.

Chances are that LSU will roll right over Ole Miss, but nothing is certain in the wild and talented SEC.

Arkansas at LSU: November 25

6 of 10

Should the No. 1 Tigers still be unbeaten after their clash with Ole Miss this weekend, they'll have one last gigantic hurdle in their way:

No. 6 Arkansas.

The Razorbacks are a fast, deep and physical bunch and they have the potential to beat anyone in the nation. Sure, LSU is the best of the best, but the Hogs have what it takes to put a big black mark on the Tigers' unblemished season.

This one is going to be huge.

Clemson at South Carolina: November 26

7 of 10

While neither Clemson nor South Carolina have any realistic shot at a championship berth, the outcome of this game could play a role in determining the order in which the nation's top three or four teams are ranked come season's end.

South Carolina is right behind No. 14 Georgia in the SEC East standings, and if they catch the Bulldogs they would more than likely play LSU or Alabama in a gigantic SEC Championship matchup.

A loss, however, would put Georgia's SEC fate in their own hands.

Notre Dame at Stanford: November 26

8 of 10

Much like the Clemson at South Carolina matchup, Week 13's Notre Dame at Stanford matchup could also have a major impact on the title hopes of the nation's top-ranked programs.

While a Notre Dame victory would make little to no difference in the grand scheme, a Stanford win would more than likely raise the Cardinal a few spots in the rankings, making No. 4 Oregon's blowout victory over them last week all the more impressive.

Still, the Ducks won't want Stanford to inch any closer in the PAC 12 standings, adding yet another interesting layer to this matchup.

Oregon State at Oregon: November 26

9 of 10

Oregon State's season has been a long and bumpy one, but nothing would make up for their 2011 struggles like a trap game upset over their rival Ducks.

Is it likely? Not at all. But Oregon can't be overlooking the Beavers in this one or they could find themselves on the outside looking in as far as a national title is concerned.

Oklahoma at Oklahoma State: December 3

10 of 10

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State is always a huge rivalry matchup, but this years' contest has the potential to be one of the most intense meetings the two programs have ever had.

Oklahoma still has an outside shot at a championship berth and No. 2 Oklahoma State is almost guaranteed a shot should they finish the season undefeated.

Two rivals playing in December with everything on the line.
