WWE Survivor Series 2005: Top 5 Moments from the Show
The WWE Survivor Series 2005 was a good event. I did not enjoy the under card one bit, but the big matches on the card were great. Also, a major star returned to close the show!
As usual, I will not be mentioning the United States Championship match. As much as I loved Booker's run here, I can't comment on the PPV match itself.
With that being said, let's get to my five most memorable moments.
No. 5: Undertaker Returns
1 of 5The Undertaker had only been out a month, so I can't rate this moment too high. He was taken out by Randy Orton in October, so he was back for revenge on the Legend Killer.
It closed the show on a high note and it gave the audience a clear indication of what was next to come for both men. Their feud needed a conclusion, and it was drawing near!
No. 4: Triple H vs. Ric Flair
2 of 5This was a Last Man Standing match, and it did not disappoint one bit. These two beat each other down for 20 minutes, and both guys looked stronger because of it.
Of course, Triple H beat Flair in the end (as he should have), and their feud was over. It was a great ending to a nice little series of battles in 2005. My hat goes off to both men here!
No. 3: Cena Beats Angle Again
3 of 5I loved Kurt Angle in 2005. He had a great year.
Cena was also on fire in 2005. He was WWE Champion from April 2005 to January 2006.
These two feuded for a few months towards the end of 2005, and it was a fun time. Cena was not going to lose the title anytime soon, so the outcomes were never in much doubt, but the matches were always entertaining.
This one was no different.
No. 2: My Final Night as a Tazz Fan
4 of 5I was a big fan of Tazz about a decade ago. I even wore one of his shirts in 2001 and 2002.
Yes, I owned a Tazz shirt!
When he became a commentator on Smackdown, he found himself a nice role. He was great with Michael Cole, and fit in just perfectly.
As time ran out, he just got annoying. I understand it was a "Raw vs. Smackdown" setting, but the constant ripping on Monday Night Raw got tiresome real quick.
Imagine Cole right now on Raw. Take his worst night playing a heel. Now multiply that by 100! That was Tazz at Survivor Series 2005.
Just listen to the Raw team being announced in the video I posted.
Again, I am all for "shooting" on which show is better, but he went overboard big time. I dare you to try and listen to this entire match with Tazz calling the action. This was my final night as a Tazz fan.
Months later, he would go to ECW and call the Tuesday night action for a few years before heading to DixieLand in Orlando: right where he belongs
No. 1: Raw vs. Smackdown
5 of 5What a promo!
I loved this feud. It was not as good as WWE vs WCW/ECW in 2001, but it was a great build towards a Survivor Series main event.
All of the participants were used correctly, and the ending was perfect. Randy Orton continued his winning streak at Survivor Series, and the show ended with a memorable moment.
Orton celebrated, before Undertaker came back and...it...was...on!
