Southern Methodist vs. Houston: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Game Time and More

T.J. McaloonNov 15, 2011

Southern Methodist University (6-4, 4-2) looks to upset fellow Conference USA member, the Houston Cougars (10-0, 6-0).

The Cougars have the best scoring and passing offense in college football this year. Their brand of football has led to six wins with margins of 55 or more points. However, SMU enters this game with a good defense, only allowing 25 points per game.

Where: Robertson Stadium: Houston, TX.

Watch: Check local listings.

Betting Line: According to Bodog.eu, Houston is favored by 33 points. Take the Cougars this week, as Houston is averaging 59 points per game. With the chance at playing in a BCS bowl game, Houston will run the score up against SMU.

Who Might Not Play For SMU

LB Byron Brown: Brown has missed two straight games and is questionable again this week with a head injury.

QB Kyle Padron: Padron missed his second game last week with a back injury and is doubtful this week.

Who Might Not Play for Houston

No injuries to report as of right now.

Key Storyline:

Houston has done a great job of blowing teams out this year. They will have the eyes of a nation on them before their game; ESPN’s College GameDay will be broadcasting their pre-game coverage from Houston.

BCS Implications

Houston has to win—and win big—this week to continue their climb into a BCS game.

SMU Players to Watch

QB J.J. McDermott: J.J. has led this SMU passing attack to six wins and bowl eligibility this year.

RB Zach Line: Line has dominated on the ground this year, as he has rushed for 17 touchdowns and over 1,200 yards.

WR Darius Johnson: Johnson has been SMU’s leading receiver this year, with five touchdown catches and 819 yards.

Houston Players to Watch

QB Case Keenum: Case is going to be the best player to watch on Saturday. He already owns almost every NCAA passing record and could break a few more on Saturday.

RB Charles Sims: When Case isn’t throwing, the Cougars rushing offense is backed by Sims. He has been responsible for nine touchdowns this year and 658 yards rushing.

WR Patrick Edwards: Case has found a lot of receivers this year for touchdown catches, but Edwards has been his favorite. Edwards leads the team with 14 on the season.

Key Matchup: Houston QB Case Keenum vs. SMU’s defense

Case has ripped apart every defense he has faced this year. We can expect the same this week against SMU. Keenum has 37 touchdowns on the year; by the end of this game, he could be up to 43.

Prediction: SMU has a good offense, but they are no match for Houston. The Cougars will win this game in yet another blowout.

Houston 70 - SMU 20
