Pacquiao vs Marquez 3: Why Marquez Overreacted to Controversial Decision

John FrielNov 15, 2011

It took three fights and it's still not enough for the majority of the boxing world to decide who the true winner is between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.

If you asked Marquez, however, he'll tell you every time that he deserved to win not just one of the fights, not two of them, but all three, though Pacquiao was given one win, while their first encounter was deemed a draw.

A conspiracy theory? Highly doubtful. The judges aren't here to create dream matchups that might not even happen, and I highly doubt that this matchup between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has been planned since 2004, which was the first fight between Manny and Juan.

After their most recent fight, Marquez was so distraught by the decision he immediately left the ring. His trainer and his brother claim that Marquez Pac-man's victory was a blatant robbery, and Marquez stated once again he deserved the victory over his Filipino rival.

It's beginning to be tough for Marquez to back up his claims, considering that he's now lost two of three fights to his bitter rival.

The overreaction was a direct result of Marquez taking Pacquiao to the distance for a third consecutive time and then being on the wrong end of the decision to the Filipino champion in what could have easily been ruled a draw.

Can you honestly blame Marquez for overreacting to the loss? Three times he had taken Pacquiao the distance, and all three times he had come away without a win. Frustration was building in Marquez and he finally let the boxing world know following the loss.

With reports coming in that a fourth fight between the two could very well be scheduled now, it might be only then that these two finally come to terms with who the true winner is.
