Manchester City: Why Roberto Mancini Is Wrong to Keep Carlos Tevez

Sam TigheNov 15, 2011

Roberto Mancini needs to sell Carlos Tevez as soon as possible.

It's unhealthy to keep him in the squad as an unhappy player, and City have enough resources to fix the problem.

He has been the definition of troublesome in recent weeks and his recent return to his homeland only stirred the pot further.

Here are four reasons why The Citizens are better off without the Argentine.

Trouble Maker

He's certainly disruptive.

The Manchester City dressing room must be difficult to handle with all the ego's flying around. Someone who quite simply doesn't follow the rules or respect the manager is a bad person to have around.

At this rate, it's unlikely that Roberto Mancini is the only one who dislikes Carlos Tevez on a personal level. Plenty of the players will have been shocked at what's happened and question the logic in him staying as well.

Manchester City need to continue to work their socks off if they are to attain any measure of success, and Tevez is a dead weight they should shed.

The Fans Have Turned on Him

There's nothing better for a player to hear his name sung in joy by the crowd.

Players feel at home when fans develop a song to sing when they score or produce some skill. But when fans turn on you, it can be very tough.

Many players have had issues winning crowds over, Carlos Tevez faces mission impossible if he wants to try and win them back.

He's Still Worth a Lot

The Argentinian striker is still worth a lot of money. There is certainly a club or two out there that would still pay £30million for his services, and probably regret it later.

Paris Saint Germain and Anzhi Makhachkala have the resources to bring him in and there's always an option of moving back to South America.

Wherever he goes, whenever he goes, there will be a feeling of relief in Manchester.

Plenty of Options out There to Replace Him

Manchester City can get a substantial fee for Carlos Tevez and reinvest it into a replacement striker.

There are certainly plenty of options out there. Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Lucas Barrios, Hulk..the list goes on. All of these strikers are affordable for City.

If they don't decide to reinvest, you can guarantee Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero will see City through the season with plenty of goals.
