NFL Power Rankings: Which Free-Falling Teams Will Continue To Struggle?

Tim DanielsNov 15, 2011

Numerous NFL teams that once had high hopes for this season are struggling to bounce back from recent losses. As the regular season enters the home stretch, these teams are running out of time to save themselves from playoff extinction.

Here are three teams that won't be able to stop their skids in Week 11.

Philadelphia Eagles

Prevailing wisdom was that the Eagles had finally realized their potential after destroying the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. What has followed is two straight home losses to Chicago and Arizona, debunking the previous theory.

Philadelphia has to play the New York Giants and New England Patriots over the next two weeks, so it's hard to imagine them turning things around quick enough to make the playoffs. The Dream Team has turned into a massive disappointment.

Buffalo Bills

After starting 3-0, including a win over New England, Bills fans were starting to dream big. However, they should have learned during the team's extended playoff drought that a strong start doesn't guarantee future success.

Buffalo has lost four of its last six games and are underdogs against Miami on Sunday. The problems are obvious, most notably a subpar defense that has stopped forcing turnovers, but aren't easily fixed. Right now, it's impossible to call the Bills anything other than pretenders.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins were 3-1 heading into their Week 5 bye and haven't won since. Their quarterback situation is a mess with Rex Grossman and John Beck both proving incapable of handing the job and the running game isn't any better.

With a difficult remaining schedule, it's going to be a long winter for football fans in the nation's capital. And it will probably remain that way until they are able to find a franchise quarterback to keep pace in the annually tough NFC East.
