BCS Rankings: Clemson Tigers and More Teams with Excellent BCS Chances

Having one loss in college football does not ruin your season. Just because a team like the Clemson Tigers have lost once, it has not ruined their chances of making a BCS bowl game.

A loss to Georgia Tech did nothing to hurt their chances of winning the ACC Atlantic division. After their win last week over Wake Forest, it clinched the division, placing the Tigers in the ACC title game.  

Clemson got even better news, as last week Virginia Tech took out Georgia Tech.

Now with Virginia Tech the favorite to win the ACC Coastal division, it gives Clemson an excellent chance to win the conference. Earlier this year Clemson manhandled Virginia Tech on the road, winning 23-3.  

If these two teams meet up again in the ACC title game, the result will be the same. Clemson’s defense will crush the Tech offensive attack while Clemson's aerial attack will prove to be too much for Virginia Tech to handle.  

Clemson is just one of three teams that have an excellent chance at playing in a BCS bowl game.  

After their flawless victory over Stanford, the Oregon Ducks control their BCS destiny.  

Now, the Ducks have a tough test against the 8-2 USC Trojans. However, the Ducks' speed on both sides of the ball will lead them to a blow out victory at home. They finish the season with an easy home game against the 2-8 Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War.

Oregon will get either Arizona State or UCLA in the Pac-12 Championship Game. If they play Arizona State, the result will be similar to when the two met earlier in the season, with Oregon winning by double digits.  

Just like Oregon and Clemson, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be another team with one loss that makes a BCS bowl game.  

Alabama is the highest ranked one-loss team in the BCS Standings at No. 3. If No. 2 Oklahoma State loses before the final standings are released on Dec. 4th, they will play in the BCS Championship game.  

Alabama will win their final two games against a "cupcake" in Georgia Southern and a disappointing Auburn team. The Iron Bowl will be a tough test for Alabama, but Auburn has proven this year to be weak at defending the run.  

This will benefit Alabama, as the Tide will rely on Trent Richardson and dominate the Tigers.

After the Auburn victory, Alabama can sit back and relax, as they do not have to worry about playing in the SEC title game.  

These three teams all control their postseason fates. They all will play in a BCS bowl game this year. For Alabama, they have the best chance at playing in the BCS Championship game.
