Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Is a Fourth Bout Already in the Works?
The third fight in the Marquez-Pacquiao trilogy will be remembered for two things. One, being another epic fight, like their first two. And two, that fans were left wanting more. It’s why a fourth fight in this series is a no-brainer.
Now word is starting to come out that the fourth fight is in the works.
According to the website BlackSportsOnline, an email from Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum notified the Floyd Mayweather camp of their disinterest of pursuing a fight against Mayweather.
“We have been informed that Bob Arum is not interested in pursuing a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao at this time,” Richard Schaefer CEO of Golden Boy Promotions said.
That's is a shame, as the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather has been one that both casual and hardcore boxing fans have been dying to see.
Schaefer continued:
"I am sick and tired of Bob Arum twisting the truth. It’s another case of "yesterday I was lying, today I’m telling the truth." The truth of the matter is that we received this afternoon an email from retired federal judge Daniel Weinstein, who has informed us that Top Rank is pursuing a rematch with Marquez and, therefore, is not interested in immediate talks for a possible Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. This is obviously as clear as it can be that they have no intentions of making a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Therefore, Floyd Mayweather will have no other choice than to move on and identify and lock in another opponent for his ring return on May 5.
"
After the last Marquez and Pacquiao fight, Arum said in an interview to Mario Lopez that he would love to see another fight between the two. That one last fight needs to happen to settle the score.
One more fight between these two great fighters really would settle everything. Another match would bring a big pay-per-view buy rate, and it would gain a lot of interest from casual boxing fans.
These two fighters are mirrors of each other. We could go back and forth until our faces are blue about who is the better fighter.
A fourth fight will happen between Marquez and Pacquiao. It will be as epic as the first three—except this time, we will see a Marquez who knows the only way to win is by a knockout.
