Penn State Scandal: Jerry Sandusky Denies Allegations but Digs Deeper Hole
Jerry Sandusky took to Rock Center and delivered his side of the story. It was a sad attempt to clear his name with the public at large. Sandusky failed as he managed to make the nation feel all the more unsafe that he is currently a free man.
For a week that now seems like years, Penn State has been embroiled in the worst scandal in sports history. The man at the center of sexual abuse allegations is former defensive coordinator for Penn State, Jerry Sandusky.
He was allowed to finally say his piece in a taped interview on Rock Center with Brian Williams. Bob Costas sat down and interviewed Sandusky by phone which you can see here.
Creepy, dark and frightening are words that do not even begin to describe the feeling of that interview. Costas hammered home some of the main points of the last week and the information that has leaked.
Sandusky, for his part, claimed innocence on just about every point. If he committed any bit of wrong, it was showering with boys. Rationally-minded people watching had to have a wave of disgust hit them when the admitted that yes, he did shower with boys, something unthinkable to just about everyone.
He also admitted to horseplay and touching of legs, but never with sexual intent. The term sexual would come up in the decisive moment of the interview.
Costas asked Sandusky if he was sexually attracted to young boys. This is where an alleged monster had to grapple with the question.
After some intense questioning, Sandusky blinked. The quote of the night came in stammer form of a man seemingly trying not to reveal his true colors.
"Am I sexually attracted to young boys? Sexually attracted. No. I enjoy young people. I love to be around them. But no, I'm not sexually attracted to young boys.
"
That feeling you have is the same shared by everyone that heard a monster speak on Monday night. Sandusky went on live TV to clear the air. I will admit one thing; he did manage to put to bed any and all doubt.
