NFL Power Rankings Week 11: 3 Surprising Victors That Will Rise

Ryan RudnanskyNov 15, 2011

The Seattle Seahawks proved last postseason against the New Orleans Saints that you can be a subpar team and still beat a top team.

Well, the Seahawks proved that once again in Week 10, defeating the heavily-favored Baltimore Ravens who were coming off a thrilling victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Seahawks are one of three surprising victors in Week 10 that will rise up the power rankings.

3. Denver Broncos (4-5)

After losing four of their first five games, the Broncos have shockingly stormed back, winners of three of their last four, including against the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs, who also looked bad early on, headed into Week 10 against the Broncos winners of four of their last five games and hoping to seize control of the AFC West.

But the Chiefs struggled mightily against the Broncos defense, scoring just 10 points and seeing starting quarterback Matt Cassel leave the game late with an injury to his throwing arm.

Tim Tebow is not a good NFL quarterback yet, but his mere presence alone seems to elevate the whole team’s play.

2. Arizona Cardinals (3-6)

The Cardinals were 2-6 headed into their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, with their only two wins being against the St. Louis Rams and the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.

In short, the addition of quarterback Kevin Kolb in the offseason didn’t seem to help a whole lot.
While the Eagles had been struggling headed into the two teams’ matchup on Sunday, you certainly didn’t think they’d lose to the Cardinals.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was simply awful in the pocket against an inexperienced Cardinals secondary, going 16-of-32 for 128 yards and two interceptions.

And the Eagles defense allowed Cardinals quarterback John Skelton to pass for 315 yards and three touchdowns while letting receiver Larry Fitzgerald run wild.

The Eagles aren’t just disappointing this season, they’re a bad football team.

1. Seattle Seahawks (3-6)

The Seahawks have been a difficult team to assess the last two seasons.

They go 7-9 last season and then beat the Saints in the playoffs. They are 3-6 this season, but they’ve beaten the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens.

The best way to describe the Seahawks? "Showers with a chance of sunshine."

The Ravens looked like a potential Super Bowl team to me before Week 10, then the Seahawks defeated them 22-17, while frustrating their passing game.
