Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Marquez Does Not Deserve Another Fight with Pacquiao
Three fights in the books and the record shows Pacquiao with two wins, zero losses and one draw. What that means is that after the third fight against Juan Manuel Marquez it’s time for “Pac-Man” to move past Marquez and onto someone else.
Yes, Marquez looked like he should have won the match. And yes, it looks like there may have been some controversial judging. But, the result from the people who were paid to score the fight had Pacquiao ahead of Marquez and it’s a result we have to live by.
So, long story short, thanks for coming Juan Manuel, we hope you enjoyed your big pay-per-view payout from the fight, but you have to move on. It’s time for Pacquiao to move onto someone else.
We do not need to see a fourth fight between these two boxers. Yes, it will be another 12-Round slugfest. And the fight will be between two boxers that mirror each other. But, the result, if Pacquiao wins again by decision, will be about how the judges love Pacquiao and hate Marquez.
It’s why we have to move onto the bigger fight. The fight that everyone wants to see Pacquiao box, the fight against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
If this fight happens, it has the chance of breaking every boxing pay-per-view record. From the number of buy rates to money spent on the fight, it will own all the records.
Plus another fight against Marquez would add nothing to Manny’s legacy.
Pacquiao doesn’t need another fight against someone he has beaten twice, with his most recent victory over that boxer. He has proven that for Marquez to defeat him, he has to knock him down.
The fight against Mayweather will make Pacquiao either the best boxer in his generation, or just another great boxer. Furthermore, it will net Pacquiao and his business team the most amount of money.
Manny Pacquiao may have won this fight against Juan Manuel Marquez by using his name or his celebrity. Or maybe the fight went to Pacquiao because of the build to the potential Mayweather fight.
Regardless, all of those are mere speculations. All we know for sure is that the judges saw a different fight than most people did.
Like it or not, Juan Manuel Marquez just cannot defeat his nemesis, Manny Pacquiao. It’s something that he will live with for the rest of his life. He had three chances to defeat him and failed in all three.
The fight is over and we have to move on. Let’s put this rivalry to an end and move onto other things. It’s the best thing for all parties.
