Andre Johnson Injury: Updates on Texans Star's Week 12 Status and Fantasy Value

Wes ODonnellNov 14, 2011

Andre Johnson can stop wearing sweatshirts on the sidelines come Week 12.

The Houston Texans, who are sick of the sweatshirts, would love nothing more than to win football games with Johnson on the field.

Unfortunately, they've had to do so without him since Week 4.

The superstar wide receiver has battled a nagging hamstring injury since their win over the Steelers. The Texans have been resting him, but Rotoworld reports that he's expected to play in Week 12:

"Johnson is fully expected to play in Week 12 after the Texans' bye."

Houston's schedule has allowed them to get by with a combination of damn good defense and a running back duo that consistently gashes teams.

And when the run is shut down, Matt Schaub finds a way to get the ball to Arian Foster out of the backfield and lets him do the rest.

The Texans dropped two straight after Johnson's injury, but have rebounded to win their last four.

Those four games have come against Tennessee, Jacksonville, Cleveland and Tampa Bay.

Houston's decision to let Johnson heal for as long as possible appears to have paid off. They lead the woeful AFC South by 1.5 games.

They will get Johnson back just when they need him most.

The Texans don't have an overly difficult schedule down the stretch, but they face each division opponent once in their last six games with two tough match ups against the Falcons and Bengals as well.

The Week 11 bye is finally here, and Johnson's expected return in Week 12 will be a welcomed sight.

UPDATE: Sunday, November 27th at 8:45 a.m. EST by Richard Langford

It is official. Andre Johnson is finally back! ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted the news.

Johnson will have a new QB throwing him the ball in Matt Leinart. He will also be on an offense that is going to run it as much as possible.

However, he is still worthy of a fantasy start as he will be the main option in the passing game. Johnson will get his targets and he will get his catches.

UPDATE: Friday, Nov. 25 at 3:40 p.m. EDT by Mike Chiari

It has already been said that Houston texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will finally return to the Houston Texans lineup this week.

If that wasn't already enough to scare the Jacksonville Jaguars' defense and cause fantasy owners to gleefully but him back in their respective lineups, then they need only read Texans head coach Gary Kubiak's assessment of Johnson as told to HoustonTexans.com's Nick Scurfield.

UPDATE: According to ESPN's Stephania Bell, it looks like Andre Johnson should be back in the Texans' lineup this week.

You should adjust your fantasy rosters accordingly. With his return it makes quarterback Matt Leinart a worthwhile option this week.
