Norwich vs. Arsenal: Complete Preview, Live Stream, Start Time and Schedule

Josh MartinNov 14, 2011

Arsenal will look to continue their long and arduous ascent through the English Premier League table when they Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday.

The Gunners have won each of their last five domestic matches since a harrowing early-season slide, including a thrilling 5-3 victory over Chelsea in the London Derby and a 3-0 shutout of West Brom before the most recent international break.

The Canaries, on the other hand, find themselves comfortably in the middle of the league table in mid-November in their first season back in the top tier, with three wins to their credit to go along with four defeats and four draws.

A win for Arsenal may well help Arsene Wenger's side leapfrog rival Liverpool up the league ranks, with the Reds set to match wits with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Where: Carrow Road, Norwich, England.

When: Saturday, November 19th at 7:45 p.m. EST

Watch: ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, Sky Sports 2

Live Stream: ESPN3.com

Player to Watch for Norwich: Steve Morison

Steve Morison has played fearlessly for the Canaries in his first season in East Anglia. The 28-year-old Welshman has chipped in three goals and two assists for the newly-promoted side, this, after Norwich made four attempts to snatch Morison from Millwall. The big striker has been a top-quality goal scorer at every level at which he's played and figures to take full advantage of a leaky Gunners back line whenever he can.

Player to Watch for Arsenal: Robin Van Persie

When you're talking about Arsenal, there is only one player truly worth talking about, and that is Robin Van Persie. RVP is in the midst of a banner year for the Gunners, notching an EPL-best 11 goals, along with three assists, through 11 games. He's finally emerged as a leader, not to mention the lone scoring threat, on an Arsenal side that's been stricken with adversity at nearly every turn this season.

Key Matchup: RVP vs. Norwich's back line

As they showed in their thrilling victory over Chelsea, Arsenal operate most effectively in a fast-paced game that allows their offensive-minded squad, including Van Persie and new boys Andre Santos, Gervinho and Mikel Arteta, to put their strong feet to good use. Ultimately, though, the scoring responsibility will fall to RVP, who should find room to operate against a Canaries defense that has conceded three goals in each of its last two fixtures.

What They're Saying:

Norwich City are expected to draw yet another record crowd to Carrow Road when Arsenal comes to town. The Canaries have had little trouble attracting supporters to their matches in their first season back in the EPL. According to the Eastern Daily Press:

"

"Their average of 26,309 for this season is better than eight Premier League clubs – including fellow promoted teams Swansea (19,661) and Queens Park Rangers (16,788) – and all 72 Football League clubs except West Ham (28,767)."

"

As for Arsenal, there is much ado about the status of Robin Van Persie. On the international front, ESPN Soccernet is reporting that Arsene Wenger and Netherlands boss Bert van Marwijk have agreed to hold RVP out of international competition to preserve his fitness over the long haul.

More importantly for the Gunners, the club will leave talks about a new contract with RVP until after the season. Said chairman Peter Hill-Wood of the situation:

"

"He doesn't want to talk about it at the moment and we are not troubling him. I think we will approach him near the end of the season. But we obviously hope that he will sign a new contract - I don't see why he should not. I can't believe he is unhappy with us."

"

Prediction: Arsenal 3, Norwich 1

The Gunners have been on a roll of late, especially against the league's lower-tier clubs, and will continue their march up the table with a convincing victory at Carrow Road.
