Week 11 Waiver Wire: Advance Warning on Players Who Are Just Fool's Gold
If your sifting through the free agents because you're in need of making a critical addition for the playoff push, be well aware that a slew of players could be the wrong pickup.
The following four are really just a solid contributor to their own team but for fantasy football, even as a backup you want to defer from selecting them.
Doug Baldwin: WR, Seattle

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
According to Gregg Rosenthal of NBC Sports, Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin left Sunday's game with a head injury. Adding to it, Baldwin may be Seattle's most productive WR, but that's not saying much on the NFL's No. 22 ranked pass offense.
You can't go right when his two QBs consist of Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst. He's not Larry Fitzgerald so making the QB look better than actually perceived isn't going to happen. That said, even if Baldwin suits up next week against the Rams, adding him will only be a disappointment.
Dexter McCluster: RB/WR, Kansas City
The versatility of Dexter McCluster is what makes him such an appealing player. And ever since RB Jamaal Charles went down, you'd think that McCluster would have become more productive.
Unfortunately for fantasy football, that hasn't been the case even with his receiving and returning skills as well. The Chiefs are using him sparingly and although he's usually productive in regards to averages per reception/carry, he's limited due to size. You're only hope is a return TD but then again, you'd have to start the Chiefs defense as well.
Blaine Gabbert: QB, Jacksonville
I'm contradicting myself on Gabbert here as he looked more appealing a few weeks ago, but not now. It's obvious that Blaine is being limited in the passing game. However, it's not because he can't do the job well.
The thing is when you have a stud RB like Maurice Jones-Drew in the backfield, there's no reason to throw the ball too much. And it doesn't help having no established receiving targets either. Being that the Jags are ranked No. 32 in pass offense (average just 122 yards per game), don't be surprised when Gabbert's numbers stay low.
Add in his rookie status and choose other than Gabbert for the remainder of 2011.
Arizona Cardinals Defense
If you're in the need of a defense, don't let the recent performances of Arizona sway you. Sure it's an obvious no-no because it's the Cardinals. However, Arizona has only allowed 30 points in their past two games and scored around 20-25 fantasy points combined (pending on how your league scores).
Not bad for a defense that only has eight picks and has given up just over 200 points. The Cardinals have clearly been playing the "nothing to lose, but everything to gain" card of recent, but that all changes this week against the 49ers. Sure the Rams are thereafter, but the Cowboys comes to town in Week 13.
So with a schedule not really in their favor, don't let the past two performances blind you from Arizona's true defensive ability.
