Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3: Perfect Rivalry Must Not Die After Classic Trio
After one of the best trilogy fight experiences the boxing world is clamoring for what would be the fourth meeting between WBO Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.
The two have had three of the closest fights in recent boxing history, and the perfection of the trio makes it one of the greatest of all time.
A fourth fight would be epic.
While Manny Pacquiao did win the last fight, there were serious questions about whether he deserved it or not. Manny’s trainer says he got lucky and needs to train harder.
Pacquiao’s Strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard Today about what has to happen for whoever Manny fights next:
"[Pacquiao] looked good but his body didn’t cooperate with him again last night. His balance was off, he looked very ordinary, nothing special. He was exposed. I know my way is very hard, it’s very taxing, it’s very uncomfortable but there is a reason for it. Nobody likes to do the conditioning but that’s what’s pushing us through, that’s what is making Manny look good. I don’t want to make excuses about leg cramps but our fights are getting worse and worse; we are starting to go in reverse. Unless we get back to what we did in the beginning I don’t see how we are going to progress. If I was Mayweather and I saw that last fight (Marquez) I would sign for a Pacquiao fight this morning.
"
Whether its Floyd Mayweather or Juan Manuel Marquez next on Manny’s agenda, he needs to get back into the gym and figure out the issues that have made him look human in his last two fights.
For the fans of boxing, Pac-Man’s next fight needs to be Marquez instead of Mayweather.
If Manny beats Marquez again, the aura around a potential fight with Mayweather would be higher than it has ever been before.
For Pacquiao and his legacy, he needs another fight against Marquez.
