Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3: Epic Trilogy Would Be Ruined by Another Rematch

Eric BallNov 14, 2011

Can we please put the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez Round 4 hype to bed?

After 36 rounds of punches, nothing is going to change.

Marquez is going to use his patent counter style to really frustrate Pac-Man into making stupid decisions. He will get roped into big punches that will be swiftly countered by Marquez. When the judges award another controversial victory to Pacquiao the same level of outrage will ensue.

It's going to be the same story...nobody wants that.

Pac-Man needs to be thanking his lucky stars the judges gift-wrapped him the victory, and now with a 2-0-1 record...there is nothing left for him to prove against Marquez. Even Marquez himself admits as much:

"

I really believe I have to drop [Pacquiao], but even if I drop him, I get the feeling they'll stand him back up and give him the fight again. I am very frustrated right now.

"

He really only has one thing left to prove...can he beat Floyd Mayweather?

That's what the entire boxing world is dying to know and will forever be wondering until the fight finally comes to fruition. The only thing Round 4 would provide is a shot of redemption for Marquez.

The vast majority of the sports public didn't watch Saturday night's fight. They simply saw the final results and assumed Pacquiao rightfully won. There is only one fight that will force even the most causal sports fan to tune in and witness the best boxing match in the world. There is only one fight that puts to bed any and all questions about who is the best fighter in the world.

We know it's not Marquez, who was beaten badly by Mayweather in addition to Pac-Man. Pacquiao is beating everyone in his path, regardless of how controversial it is, and ditto for Money May.

There is only one way we can settle this debate once and for all...and it certainly doesn't involve the 38-year-old Marquez.
