Patriots vs. Jets: Was Deion Branch's Mocking of Fireman Ed After TD Classless?

Tony SantorsaNov 13, 2011

Forget walking into the New Meadowlands and absolutely destroying the New York Jets 37-16, a New England Patriots wide receiver did the unforgivable, he mocked Fireman Ed

The New England Patriots took a commanding 30-16 lead with about eight minutes left in the game as Branch snagged a Tom Brady dart and ran it in for an eight-yard touchdown.

Following the touchdown, Branch proceeded to go towards the fans in the end-zone seats and conducted his own version of the famous "J-E-T-S" chant and started chanting "P-A-T-S PATS, PATS, PATS!"

From a New York Jet fan's perspective, that is an unforgivable sin and is completely and utterly disrespectful and classless.

From a New England Patriot fan's perspective, it is incredible, especially after how Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards ran around Gillette Stadium like Jets during last season's playoff game.

What do you think? From a neutral and an unbiased point-of-view—was it classless?

Personally, I see no harm in it. They're all adults and can take smack talk; if they can't, then I suppose they are not adults and are simply children with a high sensitivity level.

Either way, this 37-16 beating from the Patriots is just yet another chapter to add in one of the NFL's most historic rivalries, as the Patriots now hold the all time series record at 53-52-1.
