BCS Rankings 2011: Houston, Nebraska and More Disrespected Teams

Andrew KulhaNov 13, 2011

The BCS system is famous for disrespecting teams, and that phrase rings no truer than the most recent Week 12 rendition.

There was more than one high-profile team that got screwed, and to be frank, they deserved much, much better.

First off, here's a look at the latest rankings.

Here they are, folks. The Week 12 BCS rankings, hot off the press:

 1 LSU
 .9933
 2 Oklahoma State .9642
 3 Alabama .9099
 4 Oregon
 .8755
 5 Oklahoma .8400
 6 Arkansas
 .7974
 7 Clemson
 .6935
 8 Virginia Tech .6755
 9 Stanford .6747
 10 Boise State .5959
 11 Houston .567
 12 South Carolina .528
 13 Kansas State .497
 14 Georgia .453
 15 Michigan State .439
 16 Nebraska .382
 17 Wisconsin .333
 18 Michigan .295
 19 TCU .252
 20 Southern Mississippi .245
 21 Penn State .230
 22 Baylor .136
 23 Texas .120
 24 Auburn .079
 25 Florida State .071

Now that you can see them for your own two eyes, here's a few teams that really got disrespected:

No. 16 Nebraska

Granted the scandal that engulfed Penn State was really the only college football story worth nothing this week, but lost in everything was the fact that Nebraska won a huge Big Ten game on the road.

Not only that, but the emotional atmosphere that they had to overcome was extremely understated from a football aspect.

The Cornhuskers came up huge this weekend, but it got lost in the aftermath of the Paterno scandal.

No 19 TCU

The Horned Frogs just beat the previously ranked No. 6 team in the whole nation, and all they could muster up was a No. 19 ranking for them?

That's just preposterous, especially considering TCU is currently on top of the MWC and will most likely win it.

No. 12 South Carolina

The Gamecocks lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks this weekend, but the fact that they were even in position to be in SEC contention really shows how good they are, especially without Marcus Lattimore and the implosion at the quarterback situation earlier this season.

No. 11 Houston

Houston is undefeated at 10-0, yet somehow the Cougars are only ranked No. 11 in the nation. Not only that, but they currently have the NCAA's all-time leader in offensive production in quarterback Case Keenum

For some reason Houston doesn't get any love because they are in Conference-USA, but Boise State gets love for the MWC?
