WWE News: Is Chris Jericho Really Finished with the WWE?

Imaan JalaliNov 13, 2011

Earlier today, Chris Jericho, via his Twitter account, unleashed the following:

"

Let me get something straight...I will never wrestle for the WWE again. But there is some big news coming up in the world of dance....

"

There are several ways to look at this definitive proclamation by the former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion.

One, Y2J is possibly "working" the fans as he's done in the past. In his second autobiography entitled, Undisputed: How to Become a World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps, Jericho admitted to deriving much enjoyment from teasing wrestling followers about what he planned to do prior to his comeback to the WWE in the fall of 2007.

For instance, he even went so far as to upload an image of himself posing in front of the TNA logo on his website, which understandably worried many WWE fans at the time.

In the end, though, it proved to be a ruse, and Chris Jericho was not only back in the WWE Universe, he was better than ever, recreating himself as a smarmy, suit-wearing egoist.

In this particular instance—as it relates to his tweet—Y2J's subtle use of the word, "wrestle," may be construed as the truth, technically speaking. The WWE, after all, employs superstars who don't "wrestle," but "entertain."

On the other hand, the former "Ayatollah of Rock N' Rolla" may very well be done with the WWE. Case in point, just a few days ago, one of THQ's representatives was evasive about why Chris Jericho couldn't be included in the video game WWE '12:

"Not having Jericho on the roster was a creative decision. Can't say much more than that. Factors beyond our control. We wanted him, too."

It's difficult to say what kind of disagreement, if any, led to Jericho not being a character in the WWE's latest iteration of what used to be the Raw vs. Smackdown series.

For example, Y2J may have asked for more compensation beyond what WWE/THQ was willing to give him.

Taking it further, Vince McMahon may be at fault here, as he's been known to carry grudges that result in video game exclusions as it pertains to former talent. Specifically, a few years ago, McMahon ordered Randy Savage and Mick Foley to be removed from the Legends of WrestleMania video game.

Could Jericho be in the bad graces of Vince McMahon? Perhaps the WWE Chairman is exasperated with the lead singer of Fozzy, whom he feels is not willing to compromise on a deal that would bring him back to Raw or Smackdown.

Speculation aside, as WrestleMania 28 approaches, we'll know if Chris Jericho is bluffing or not.
