UFC on Fox: 5 Fights Bruce Leeroy Should Take Next

Kyle SymesNov 13, 2011

Alex "Bruce Leeroy" Caceres made a successful bantamweight debut at the UFC on Fox event.

Caceres joked beforehand that he trimmed his afro to make 135 lbs. The new hair style wasn't the only improvement Caceres made.

"Bruce Leeroy" showed he's improved on his striking and ground game as he battered Cole Escovedo from range and threatened with submissions during the short amount of time the fight took place on the ground.

Moving forward, Caceres should be able to focus more on his next opponent as compared to worrying about his job.

Raphael Assuncao

1 of 5

Raphael Assuncao at one point was considered one of the best featherweight fighters in the world.

But after losing three out of four fights, Assuncao made the decision to drop to bantamweight. He, like "Bruce Leeroy," made a successful debut at bantamweight and won by decision.

Assuncao has the skills that would challenge Caceres and show just how much Caceres has improved his game.

Damacio Page

2 of 5

Damacio Page is coming off a loss against Brian Bowles, but that shouldn' t discredit matchmaker Joe Silva from pairing these two up.

The fight is a win-win for both the promotion and the fighters.

The UFC either sees a credible fighter reestablish himself (Page) or sees the young prospect dethrone a top-level fighter.

For Page, he gets an "easy" bounce back fight against a young prospect, and for Caceres he will likely get a fight on a UFC pay-per-view as compared to a network fight event.

Chris Cariaso

3 of 5

A bout with Chris Cariaso would give Caceres another stand-up fighter that will likely look to avoid the ground.

Cariaso had some questionable calls in his past two fights that saw him both win and lose split decisions.

It would be "gut-check" time for both Cariaso and "Bruce Leeroy" as both fighters would look to establish their position in the bantamweight ladder.

Edwin Figueroa

4 of 5

Edwin Figueroa bounced back nicely from his first professional loss.

After dropping a decision to Michael McDonald, Figueroa stopped Jason Reinhardt with impressive strikes in August.

Figueroa has been boxing since he was six years old and kickboxing since he was 14. A bout against "Bruce Leeroy" would show fans how Caceres handles a better striker than himself.

Takeya Mizugaki

5 of 5

Takeya Mizugaki, like Caceres, owns his latest victory over Cole Escovedo. So why not match these two fighters together?

It would prove whether both fighters are improving or if they're latest wins were a result of facing subpar competition.

Mizugaki has some of the better boxing in the bantamweight division and has shown impressive takedown defense. Caceres would definitely have his hands full with Mizugaki.
