BCS Rankings: Penn State and Teams Sure to Drop for Week 12
The Penn State Nittany Lions had one of the worst weeks in college football history, and it culminated with a heartbreaking loss to Big-10 rival Nebraska.
While Penn State still has BCS dreams, they took a serious blast with the loss, but they weren’t the only teams ready to fall.
The following teams were all (and still are) BCS contenders, but their current ranking took a substantial hit.
Penn State—After one of the worst weeks imaginable for a college program, the Nittany Lions came up short in what could have been their Big 10 meal ticket.
The No. 12 Penn State will drop in the rankings to the late teens, or even into the 20’s depending on how the BCS computer feels this week.
They have a huge game next week against the Ohio State Buckeyes that went from a rivalry game to a must win in the blink of an eye.
Boise State—The Boise State Broncos only have one shot at a BCS championship each season, and that’s going undefeated.
A loss to TCU on Saturday not only breaks the Broncos heart in Week 11, it crushes their hopes of a serious BCS bid.
The Broncos will drop significantly down in the standings and break the hearts of underdog fans across the USA.
Stanford—The Stanford Cardinal and Andrew Luck lost a heart-breaker against the Oregon Ducks, and their BCS championship dreams have been crushed.
Luck will remain the clear Heisman favorite and a No. 1 overall pick, but the team will not be national champions.
All of the talk about leap frogging Alabama means nothing now, and Stanford should just be happy to remain in the top 10.
