Swapping Chad Ochocinco for Randy Moss Would Rescue the New England Patriots

Kyle VassaloNov 13, 2011

The Chad Ochocinco experiment tanked and the Patriots are facing what could be their third consecutive loss. They've got the worst defense in the entire NFL, which means bringing back Randy Moss is the only way the Patriots can rescue their Super Bowl hopes.

When Moss left the Patriots, he was a luxury. He was a deep threat and provided the Patriots with a go-to guy who could stretch the field, but he wasn't a necessity.

That's all changed.

The Patriots haven't scored more than 20 points in their last three games. They have the No. 1 pass offense in the league, but Wes Welker can't be expected to completely take over the game every week and Rob Gronkowski doesn't stretch the field.

Moss brings everything the Patriots were hoping Ochocinco would. It's not Mad Chad's fault, but the guy just hasn't found his groove. He has nine catches on the entire season. Why not bring in a guy who has experience in the system and could provide an immediate lift?

The Patriots have to overcompensate for their useless defense. The laissez-faire approach to this situation may punch them a playoff ticket, but it's not going to earn them a trip to the Super Bowl.

Moss had nothing but good things to say about the Pats when he left and according to Pro Football talk, Moss would consider making a comeback to the organization if they reached out to him.

The Patriots need a lift. They need their swagger back. More importantly, they need to win.
