Pacquiao vs Marquez Rematch: Dinamita Does Not Deserve a Fourth Fight
After Manny Pacquiao beat Juan Manuel Marquez last night in controversial fashion in their third fight, the boxing world is wondering if there will be a fourth.
The first fight was ruled a draw, with both fighters thinking that they had won. In the second fight Pacquiao was ruled the winner in a very close fight, yet Marquez thought that he had won. These two fights set up a third fight that was supposed to be an epic clash deciding who the better fighter truly is.
Not quite.
Last night, Marquez came out early, and his fans in Vegas were cheering him on. For the first six rounds he looked like the much better fighter. Then Pacquiao showed us that his slow start was just rust he was shaking off. He had a ferocious comeback that seemed to tie the fight.
Marquez was told he was winning going into the final round, but Manny won the round, giving him a close win, scored 116-112, 115-113, 114-114.
Marquez said that he was robbed once again, and he still thinks he is the better fighter, despite being 0-2-1 against Pac-Man.
With all that being said, we will not see a fourth fight. Not because Marquez will retire soon, but because he doesn't deserve one.
Marquez was fighting the worst Pacquiao we have seen in years—possibly in his career—last night. Pacquiao came out slow and took six rounds to get back on track. We knew that rust would be a factor, but Marquez was unable to capitalize.
Dinamita should have considered himself lucky to have fought such a weak Pacquiao, but because he could not take advantage, he does not deserve another fight.
Marquez will never fight Pac-Man in a weaker state that last night. He missed his opportunity and if they were to fight again, it would not even be close.
Marquez should realize that he can't beat Pacquiao at his worst, so he clearly wouldn't be able to beat him at his best. Pacquiao is just the better fighter, and we have seen the last fight between these two.
