Can Reggie Bush Save Tony Sparano's Job with Miami Dolphins?

Jon DoveNov 13, 2011

Reggie Bush will have no impact on the job status of Tony Sparano, who is pretty much a lame-duck coach. Sparano could win every game the rest of this season and still be out of a job. The Miami Dolphins will be making some major changes in the offseason. With the possibility of changes from top to bottom, Sparano will only be the first causality of this terrible season.

I have always felt that Bush was capable of producing at a higher level. He still has his game-breaking speed, and has worked hard to add some mass. However, his struggles with injuries have really limited his on-field impact.

This season has provided Bush with the opportunity to start fresh and establish himself a focal point of the Dolphins offense. The early-season results were mixed, but Bush has really come on in the last two games. In those last two games, Bush is averaging over six yards per carry.

His ability to pick up large chunk of yards is very important to his success. It allows Bush to be effective, while also limiting his overall carries. For example, Bush only carried the ball 13 and 15 times in the past two games. However, he was near 100 rushing yards in both of those games.

Bush's production will not be enough to save Tony Sparano's job, but he is establishing himself a s a building block for the future. There is no doubt that the next head coach will see Reggie Bush as a positive, and someone he can build around.

While Bush is starting to show some signs of life, he still needs to produce over a longer stretch. These past two games have been encouraging, but those positive vibes could be erased in a split second. Bush's injury history could come back and derail his positive production.
