Pacquiao vs. Marquez Results: Manny Pacquiao Picks Up Pace in 4th Round
After Juan Manuel Marquez appeared to win the second and third rounds at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday, Manny Pacquiao came back with a flurry in the fourth round, battling back to gain momentum in what would prove to be a lengthy fight.
He caught Marquez with some big punches early on while the great Mexican missed a few of his own, but despite the increased volume of punches Pacquiao threw, Marquez was able to dart away from many of them, showing his excellent fighting skills and defense.
By the end of the round, Marquez was connecting on a few of his own, thundering home a right at the end that shook Pacquiao.
With his fourth-round output, Pacquiao was beginning to understand that he could be slipping in the score cards, so he burst at Marquez to accommodate. The only problem was, Marquez was displaying an uncanny ability to avoid Pacquiao’s punches, the same punches which had rattled many an opponent.
It was shaping up to be a great fight, with Marquez apparently at the top of his game and Pacquiao looking like he was behind in the fight.
It would also mark the beginning of Pacquiao’s frustration, not being able to land enough big shots to down Marquez and getting hit with counter-punches in the process.
After all the tough rounds against his nemesis, Pacquiao was in danger of finally being upset.
